Awesome thread, TH. Those duck breasts looked great, as did everything else.

Friday: Coonass gravy with braised mallard, quail and rabbit over jasmine rice.
Saturday: Biscuits, boudin omelettes, sausage and bacon. The only meal I took pics of.
Game day: Shrimp and crawfish etoufee, Italian salad and french bread

I am friends with the wrong people. Look at that setup. We're lucky if the solar water pump is working and we don't run out of propane.

Got to be a commercial camp with all that set up?

We're beer friends. Fact.

I'll have to do this same thing when I'm at our yearly Giles Island trip. They cook some damn fine meals up for us in a similar kitchen.

You should recognize it count, you've been there but probably not in the kitchen

I don't hunt. I just want to cook in that kitchen.

He's been in the kitchen if he's been out there. Every swinging dick goes in the kitchen.

I think we need to redefine the meaning of hunting camps. These places i see people post about are not camps. These are lodges.
Growing up, our hunting camp was located in the woods, along with 3 others. They were spaced out about 5 miles apart along the bayou bank. THey were accessible by boat via a 30 minute boat ride down the bayou, or via a 1 hour drive, and 30 minute ATV ride through the woods.
The camp was a wood frame tin shack with 8 - 3 tier bunk beds, and a wood burning stove in the center for heating. The only bathroom was an outhouse. There were 2 gas stoves, and 1 gas oven located outside under protection of the tin roof. The meals for breakfast consisted of shitty camp coffee, and a biscuit. Maybe bacon if you were lucky. Lunch was usually a sandwich or something you packed with you. And if you stayed for dinner, it was usually beans, and whatever was killed. Either squirrel, rabbit, deer, or even coon (never ate the coon).
These mansions people call camps now, are the furthest thing in my mind, from a camp. These are grand lodges, and there is no "roughing it", like we did growing up. (FWIW, i'm 31).
Not saying i wouldn't love to stay at one of these lodges and feast, but i think we can stop calling them camps.
