Pretty standard cast.
Rotel
Kidney beans (yes, beans in chili)
Garlic powder/Cumin/Chili Powder/S&P
Onion
Lime
Jalapenos and Habaneros from the garden
Frozen Hatch Chiles
Ground Beef

Think we've officially reached the end of summer up here in the plains, chili is one of our go to fall meals. It'll be the first of many batches I make over the next six months. Anyone have any twists on a chili recipe?

I'm intrigued.. may make a quick run to the gas station. Add the whole Hershey bar?

For a pot that size (just guessing by looking at your ingredients) I'd do half the Hersy bar and half a Guiness. If not doing the Guinness do a whole Hersey Bar. If not doing the Hershey bar do a whole Guinness. You could start light and add to it of course..

For an interesting punch, throw some mild yellow curry in it. Just a pinch to start. Taste and add to as it starts to fit your flavor profile.

Nah, GF made some cinnamon rolls. It's a weird Nebraska thing, but impeccable combo.

I opted for Hersheys dark chocolate and Guinesss at the station to throw in

To be clear, you don't serve chili over cinnamon rolls. You either dunk rolls or alternate bites. The sweetness and cinnamon from the rolls plays perfectly off a meaty and spicy chili

I'd pull up a chair, strap myself in for safety and go to town on that combo. Love it.

Which makes it more like Cincinnati chili. May as well serve it over noodles and top it with cheese.

Made our first batch one day earlier this week. Like Balls said, the recipe had a small bit of Hershey bar. No beans for mine, but I understand (and have no problem) if you like them.

I've never tried chocolate before today, have it all simmering right now. I like the idea, I think it'll play well with the chili powder and cumin.

Well hopefully I got the proportion right, since I ate the other half of the Hershey bar and drank the rest of the Guinness during the prep

I did throw a healthy dose of curry in Indianswim at your suggestion. I think it’s a great addition to the profile, will come out more once it melds overnight. Thanks

Ok, but no real garlic, or tomato paste and I do dried chills like seeded ancho and jyhillo (can't spell) soaked in hot chicken broth then blended smooth, I do add some semi sweet chocolate. Also like to stir in a TBS masa flour to bind.
