Also Darrell’s surf and turf sucks because it’s only the roast beef you get
Got to get the special - add shrimp

What? The surf & turf is literally roast beef and shrimp.

Copied straight from their online menu:

Surf & Turf
Sliced Roast Beef & Sauteed Shrimp cooked in Roast Beef Gravy & homemade butter sauce

Based on the hype of people saying it’s better than a New Orleans Poboy, I expected a Poboy better than New Orleans. It is not.

I've never heard anyone say its the best poboy in louisiana... Its not really a poboy. fairly close to the poboy shape...thats about it.

Everyone I know that has had one loved it though. I make it a point to stop for lunch anytime im on the way to houston. Too good to pass up.

He's saying the surf & turf only comes with shrimp and RB. But if you add shrimp to the special you also get the ham and turkey on it

My favorite thing about them is that they AREN'T really a poboy at all. I honestly didn't even realize they called themselves Darrell's Poboys.

Don't get me wrong, I love New Orleans poboys, but they are usually quite terrible outside of there with a few exceptions. And hell, if you randomly pick a place serving poboys IN New Orleans or the immediate area, you are just as likely to get something not so good as you are otherwise.

This seems to be the one place I've been to that is doing something quite different with what it calls a "poboy" and it actually works.

Is it the best thing to eat in the state or even the top 5-10 things anyone calls a poboy? Nah, not hardly. But they are really damn tasty for what they are and I like the fact that they are unique in what they are.
