So you overpaid for a vacation in Seaside, but now you're worried about an $11 kids meal?

He tried to make some subs on a Happy Meal so he could get the fries and drink he wanted.

OP Did you try to sub out the toy for something else too??

Why does everyone say this incorrectly?

When you say “substitute X for Y,” X is supposed to replace Y.

I just made a thread last week on the sec ot about how people are such assholes these days.

However, I doubt there’s any of us who can say we haven’t been an unduly a-hole at least a few times in our lives so don’t feel too badly.

A few years ago I pulled a bitch in an office- and as things happen- it came back to me. Not in a bad karma way but someone who managed the place who happened to be out of office that day - well let’s just say he and I didn’t really know each other nor did I even know he worked there at the time BUT we know tons of the same people. So fast forward 6 months or so and we are at the same community event and the people I’m talking to know him and he joins our little circle. Anyway, we end up talking and he asks me about it- not even in an a-hole way, in a smiling way and asking me what the issue was if something they did was wrong - which is almost worse and I had to just full on admit it and come clean that I was frustrated with the company not just that particular office and I let loose on them. We both ended up laughing about it but still it was like oh shite of freakin course that happened.

And the really bad thing is, I can honestly say maybe 3 times in my whole life have I been an outright a-hole like that- but I felt like this was a lesson learned. I try to focus on the positives now as much as I can, but it is hard at times.

I was an a-hole last Friday on my way to Fairhope. Stopped at a subway for my daughter and they were out of white bread and flat bread. I said a few words I wish my daughter didn't hear.

I’m overly nice to service people - to the point that I get upgraded in hotels, car rentals, etc just for chatting with the girl helping me.

But I got bitchy the other day. Stopped to fill my rental car up on the way to the airport. Sat in traffic for ~10 minutes and reached the airport. Dude tried to charge $16 for the needle not touching the F line. Still was only able to get him to take $10 off of that charge.

You should have asked to sub out the kids meal burger for a normal sized one while you were at it

yes

You don't control the restaurants policies on how they handle a meal.

Either accept that or don't patronize the establishment.

Giving a worker shite about it is not the way to handle that situation.

I admit I was wrong. But I’ll never go back to Pickles. I have never seen a restaurant use different fries on a kids menu and I have never seen a restaurant up charge for a bottle of water.

Again, after reading yelp reviews, this is not uncommon for the place. They up charge you for the lettuce, tomato, and pickle on a burger.

That place is slammed incessantly on Yelp, yet they still print money.

This is more common than not charging you.

Huh? Bottle of water costs more than a fountain drink in 99% of restaurants

I used the word up charge. I was wrong. They wanted to charge me for a bottle of water.

Me: We seem to be in a F..KIN PICKLE then. I’d like my money back.

If you actually used the F word at the counter of a quick service restaurant, you were way, way, way over the line. In many jurisdictions, cursing in public is an actual crime and can end in a negative encounter with law enforcement.

Was just reading some reviews on yelp. Damn.

quote:

This is your typical tourist trap place - bad food with super high prices for what you get. Five burgers, five small fries, and one iced tea equaled $93. To top it off, we ordered the burgers as medium but three of them basically came out raw in the middle with just a singe of brown on the outside. Expect to wait in line for at least 30 minutes to place your order. Seaside is definitely a tourist spot, but don't rip off people.

quote:

Wow. I don't know where to start. The boy taking our order would not speak. I say boy because he was a grown adult who thought he was too good to speak to us. Keep in mind he works at a fast food restaurant. RUDE! The entire time we waited for our food he was scratching his stomach. Then he sat on the counter with basically his golf balls hanging out. Breakfast sandwich was advertised as Texas toast. Try sandwich slice toast. Nothing Texas about it. To make it worse my third bite came complete with egg shells. Yuck. Out of our party of eight no one's meal was hot. Although we were the only people eating there. Which should have been our sign. Terrible service, terrible views (balls), and terrible food.

Pickles has been there since Seaside was a quiet town with hardly any traffic. Now that it's exploded with tourism, they can charge whatever they want and people will pay for it
