ETA: Didn't know Mississippi Pot Roast was well known...

I love cooking and I'm all for delicious, complicated food, with top notch ingredients.

This is not that.

My mom recently found this recipe and made it for us to pick on at the house (we're grazers because we all have small babies). Its unbelievably delicious and arguably the easiest recipe I've ever seen

If you're having a bunch of family over to hang out over the holidays and want an easy, non-pretentious meal one night, I'd highly recommend.

LINK

Ingredients:
1 (3-4 pounds) chuck roast
1 packet ranch dressing mix
1 packet au jus gravy mix
1/4 cup butter
4-5 pepperoncini peppers

Instructions
1. Place roast in the slow cooker and sprinkle the top with the ranch dressing mix and the au jus mix. Place peppers on top of the mixes, and add the butter.

2. Cook over low heat for 8 hours. Serve with noodles, rice or mashed potatoes. Enjoy!

My sister in law does this. It's always good. She uses the Onion Gravy mix.

Cook them all the time. Good stuff. You can also sub the onion soup mix for taco seasoning, add a little Beef stock and make some killer tacos.

I thought it would be too plain when my wife suggested it, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. We now add onion and mushroom plus a little beef broth to it

Do the additions make it better?

Looks awesome. Do you stuff yours with garlic and onion or pre season meat with salt at all?

We did not.

Traditionally, this is obviously what we've done, but we didn't do any of that and it was awesome.

I'm always open to add more stuff to it though if people have suggestions. I think beef broth might be good to give a little more juice, but not sure how much I'd put in there.

We add about 1/2" of water from the outset. When it's cooked I usually have a good 3-4 cups of au jus. Remove the roast, pour the au jus into an oil separator, strain it off then reduce it down, thicken it, pour it back in the crock pot, shred the roast and grab your poboy bread.

I do the onion soup mix instead of au jus and add a on of smoked sausage. After 6-8 hours, it is a fine pot roast and I will then skim the fat off, mix with some corn starch and make a gravy. Not quite like a good coonass roast but easy and can cook while at work.

If you leave it in the crockpot for 10 hours or so, it will shred into debris and make killer 10 napkin roast beef poboys.

My wife makes it like that. I do a packet of spicy ranch mix, 2 cans of French onion soup, a cream of celery and a cream of mushroom. I like mine better

My wife stuffs her with garlic and onion. Does one can of campbell’s Beef broth and one pack of onion soup mix. Set the thing on low and comes out great. Definitely gonna have to try it this way though.

We eat it as a poboy and actually had it earlier this week. We like to dress and press it.

This week I think I perfected how I dress it. Mayo and some horseradish on the bread. Then the pot roast. Next I put about 5-6 pepper rings followed by about 3 slices of tomatoes and shredded lettuce. It then gets pressed down to toast the outside. Best one I've ever had.

Doesn't change it up a whole lot, but it makes more gravy which is a great thing

Not too salty? I made the mistake of making crock pot chicken with ranch mix and a couple cans of condensed soup and it was so inedible salty we had to throw the whole dish out. And I love salt.

Now I pretty much just go one or the other. I like the recipe in the OP.
