I see I received a few downvotes for saying Ki Mexico is better than Torchy's. Not bothered by the downvotes but just curious why you disagree? What do you like more about Torchy's? Maybe I'm missing something

It’s because you’re comparing a chain “fast casual” place for Americanized tacos to a high quality, well locally sourced, and more authentic taco place.

Ki Mexico is one of the best if not the best restaurant in Shreveport. Of course it’s going to be better than a chain option that moved in from out of state. It doesn’t mean torchy’s is bad or anything. It’s just a silly comparison.

Nothing worse than the fat soy types here in Texas that shite on Torchys/Velvet Taco bc of muh authentic hole in the walls

Right? Each of them have their place. I love my authentic places, but sometimes I want a Cuban sandwich as a taco or shrimp and grits taco. They are 2 different types of food imo and they can coexist perfectly and you can enjoy both equally.

We have authentic hole in the wall Mexican places here too. That's not Torchy's market. El Tio on Burbank is the shite.

For the record, I never said Torchy's was bad. I actually said it was good.

And I would say Ki Mexico is far from any kind of "authentic taco place." Especially when compared to some of the others mentioned in this thread.

Both started out as taco trucks before moving to brick and mortar. Both make creative style tacos. One just does it better than the other.

And you're right, it probably is because one uses high quality, locally sourced ingredients compared to a chain, but my original comment shown below still stands.

"I've been to Torchy's several times in Texas over the years but it had been a while until I went to the new Torchy's in Shreveport last weekend. It was good but Ki Mexico in Shreveport has way better tacos."

They are both great IMO. Tacodeli has a better selection overall.

Okay? You essentially said “Outback has a good steak, but peter luger is better.”

Man give them a break. They don't have a bunch of authentic street taco places in BR and the Mexican food in general is just okay. Torchy's isn't bad, it's just expensive. Places like Velvet Taco pop up in Texas despite way better options.

Torchys us expensive? They are about the same or cheaper than many of the real taco places around me. And let's be honest, while I love many of the real taco places, a lot of them aren't that great. And Velvet Taco is awesome.

I’d agree with that, although you don’t get as much food per taco as torchys

Sauce is top notch at taco deli and I love their breakfast tacos

Really good taco...had the Trailer Park and Crossroads(brisket). Really full after the Trailer Park, nice portions.

I do love Torchy's but I can't see how an active person can get full off of only two tacos.

for every few authentic carne asada tacos with cilantro/onions in a double-wrapped corn tortilla, I enjoy a Trashy Trailer Park. both styles have their place

taco purist jabronis are the worst

I often eat lunch at Torchys or Velvet with 5 or 6 other guys after noon swim workout (about 2 miles in 1 hour). There is only 1 guy that eats more than 2 tacos but he is an Ironman tri guy so is doing double and triple workouts per day.
