Background
My groomsmen are looking to throw a stock the bar party in late December in NOLA but are having trouble finding a venue.

Details

A maximum of 60 people will attend the event (likely less).

We would like for the party to be inside since it will be late December.

Ideally a place where we could be bring in outside food but not a deal breaker if we can't.

Roughly a $600-800 budget.

Mid-twenties age range.

Places already ruled out
Rendezvous (booked)
Lucy's attic (booked and likely out of budget anyway)
Rusty Nail and Mid-City Bulldog (mostly outside)

Any ideas from the F&D board experts??

Is the $600-$800 budget the venue only or includes food and drink?

I'm guessing he is asking just about the event venue. Hell you can't get a table for $600 let alone an entire room.

The $600-800 budget was a rough guess on my part. Ideally I would like for the place to not be considered rented out but we can put down a 500 tab and spend the rest on light food options.

Beer drinkers ?

Not sure about the budget but try NOLA Brewery.

Just this past Tuesday they had a funeral party there. It works for all occasions.

Forgot to mention Nola Brewery.

We actually checked there but they only served beer (no surprise). They said we wouldn't be able to open the gifts there either ha.

Vrbo. Find a large condo or house. They will probably do a short rental that time of year.

I just came in to delete my dumbass post. Just got home from a wine dinner and had a momentary lapse of reason.

That said, you guys are welcome to take a shower at our house.

Look up Tigermen Den on Royal. I read something about it somewhere. It's not huge. It's a party type venue I think which was renovated not long ago.

I don't know how you would stay in that budget for food and drink even if everyone brings a dish rather than using a caterer. If this is at a mealtime, you have to feed people more than a few light appetizers.

December is a tough month this late in the game.

Preaching to the choir here. I might just have to hope for mild temperatures and have it outside. Its much easier to secure.

I was thinking of trying the outside bar below Brisbis. Only thing is that its right on the lake and could get quite windy and chilly.

Tough time of year. Holiday parties are booked.

Most places are going to want at least 40 a head.

What about pat o's briars suite? I had s party there in August as a side event for a conference and it was very nice.

Another thought is to rent out a VFW hall. Could prob get it for 200-300. Then just go to somewhere like Dorignacs to get food made and you can buy liquor there as well and people can serve themselves.

You may want to try Felicity Church. I know they have reasonable rates and a cool building, but you have to bring food and drinks and maybe music.

Felicity Church

They do more than weddings. Went to a great Frank Relle show there.

Seriously do this.

You have to buy a certain amount of beer from them, but you can bring your own food and liquor (do not forget ice).

500 tab for 50 people is like 1 drink.

Your budget is kinda low...

But NOLA brewery is your best option. Cost only $150 to rent it out and you can leave a credit card to pay for drinks. No liquor or wine but you're limiting yourself with only 500 bucks anyway. At the brewery you can get some damn fine beer for 3 to 5 bucks a glass. Plus you can bring in 20 pizzas from Domenica for cheap.
