The tacos were greasy as hell but delicious. The tamales were awesome both going down and coming out. And my favorite, their bean dip. That bean dip will never be replicated but I've tried so many times. Truly a generational icon that is so sorely missed.

Anyone ever able to replicate their bean dip? If so, please share!

I believe there was a thread on the FOOD board about this subject.

Went as a kid all the time...the lady that ran the bar always let my brother and me go grab a free candy bar after we ate.

This is actually a clever troll.

Start a thead on the OT that belongs on the Travel Board. A little while later, one that belongs on the Food and Drink Board.

Might I suggest a Movie/TV Board topic next?

There was a huge thread on the Food Board years ago about this. Don't recall what the outcome was.

And, bean dip with the green sauce added was amazing. The standard order for me was an order of flat cheese enchiladas, which came covered in the chili and onions (I still drool over this), and a taco.

The margaritas alone were worth the stop.

The board needs to have a bit more leeway on this in my opinion.

While I'm not saying this is one, there are certain discussions about food, travel, and movies that are more "OT" style discussions than they are discussions amongst those SOLELY interested in those topics.

I think the monitors can be too quick to deem everything touching on any of those topics to be topics that should be ONLY for those exclusive boards and move them accordingly, sort of killing the generalized nature of the discussion.

I'm not sure what the answer is or if there is a way to draw a line, it's just a slight gripe I sometimes have.

Found the old thread. Wasn't as big as I remembered.

No answer was ever given, and I posted about that the flat cheese enchiladas twice in two years in that thread.

Damn I miss them.

I know for a while that Premier Produce in Zachary got one of the family members to start producing the bean dip again. They would sell out super fast every time a batch was made, but my mom got some a couple of times.

Don't know if they still do it or not.

I think some guy who was a family member of the owners posted on here and would get snippy at any perceived slight of it.

For what it's worth, I loved the place. I was just sort of amused by him.
