Great job. I have been going to Mosca's since the 1970's and love the food. The area is pretty built up now - there is even a traffic light outside- but when I started going there it was the only structure out in the middle of the swamp. The dishes you listed are the classics. The only reason we don't go there more often is because we have duplicated the recipes and do a good job of cooking these dishes at home.

The fact that the Bordelaise didn't make your list renders it invalid.

Lucky Coin's owner John Georges may not be involved in murder, but he is just as corrupt as the jukebox's former proprietor.

I do not think the food or journey is worth more than a trip or two in a lifetime. I certainly would not put Mosca’s in the Top 10 of Italian restaurants in the NOLA Metro, nor my Top 100 of restaurants in the area.
Please extend my condolences to Mrs. TulaneLSU for your impending accidental slip off a bridge while wearing boots filled with concrete

Summoned up so many astute snapshots of our skewed, fading realm, TLSU.
Almost as though Ignatius Reilly's slightly less paranoid brother wrote it.

who builds a restaurant next to a garbage dump.......... in the 50's and first half of the 60's, Mosca's was located in the middle of a shallow lake that extended a half mile on either side of the highway. levee's were built, water pumped out and first came the willow trees. first landfill was built in early 70's Mosca's side a couple miles toward boutte

in describing the Huey long bridge, you omitted the 2 foot offset in the east bound lanes about at the east bank of the river. very narrow lanes made that offset terrifying as it pushed you into other cars.

mosca's in the 50-70 period of time was well know to be a cash only business. a very big social screwup to not cover the meal

the food.....the Mosca's frequently would go around the tables talking to diners.

crab salade, Oysters Mosca , bbq shrimp, chicken catchatori , bar services were great

the bbq shrimp were not messy to eat. by spearing the underside with a fork and sliding a knife under the shell one could peel them quite easily in a formal suit

Joe Impastato once told me a story about a time he had a dish washer at his Metairie location that compiled a bunch of gambling debt that he had no way to pay back to the bookie. Joe referred the dishwasher to Mosca’s so he could pick up extra shifts for cash on days he wasn’t scheduled at impostatos. Well, the dishwasher went to work that shift and Mosca’s—never made it out the kitchen following that shift. A lot of unsolved murders have ended at Mosca’s. If the swamp behind Mosca’s could talk.
