TulaneLSU's legal lobster deal of the day: 20 lbs shipped for $155 (now sold out)

The Food Board is infamous for the 12 1.5 pound lobsters for $120 back in 2012 that ended up being stolen. This time around, however, I think this deal is on the up and up.

Lobster207.com is offering 20 pounds of live lobster ranging from 1.24 to 1.48 pounds for $155, shipping included. That's just $7.75 a pound shipped. Compare that to the ill-gotten lobsters of 2012, which were $6.67/lb, and $7.45/lb adjusted for inflation. I'd say the extra 30 cents per pound is worth it when buying legal lobsters.

Why the low cost? Apparently there is an abundance of lobsters this year due to decreased demand from restaurants and the inability to ship them abroad. At least that is what Uncle's friend in Connecticut is saying. Tell them TulaneLSU sent you their way.

P.S. Here is the link to the deal. One potential downside to this deal is it appears they will not ship until August, when the lobsters are molting. Just as with blue crab, when lobsters molt, they are not filling their shells with meat yet, so you get the equivalent of empty lobsters. They aren't truly empty, just as recently molted buster blues aren't "empty," but there is some wasted water weight.
