Tried an experiment today and it worked.

Alton Brown's French Onion Soup...

Left out the cheese since it is not allowed.
But I made an addition. I had a cup of white beans cooked in ham stock in the fridge. Added them to the Onion Soup.
Came out like a cross between traditional French onion soup and Senate Soup.
Do any of you folks experiment with new ideas? I'm never afraid of failure. Failures go the to dogs and they always say it's excellent stuff.

Hey, I had the croutons. But cheese in my house has not been allowed for 18 years.

I never had an opportunity to ask why/how this law came about. What gives?

He's married to young Lucy who works odd hours full time, makes good money while he cooks, plays golf and goes out for coffee every day, basically living a life of leisure. Lucy hates cheese in every form or fashion and doesn't allow it in the house or near her. She also leaves old oil in fryers in the cabinet for 5 years. That may be the last time she cooked before the marriage. Lucy doesn't cook and eats the same things over and over again in some sort of cycle. I think she's off chicken salad for the moment. Pasta and Monjuni's sauce is one of her favorites. Zach loves Lucy, so no cheese in the house and he cooks whatever she wants. He tries new things, but Lucy doesn't usually try the new stuff. She settles for the usual fare. Zach is a lucky man except for the cheese thing. The dogs eat well.
Did I get that about right, Zach?
One year, we should all send him Maytag blue cheese for Christmas just for fun.

Luce also calls sugar cookies "tooger tookies" or some variation. The dogs love em.
I bought the stuff for French onion soup tonite thanks to Zachs thread. If I don't get to go to the Turkey Banquet and drink whiskey tonight, Im probably gonna try my hand at it. With cheese doe.

I believe those are from the day old rack at Wally World or Brookshires. Or is that the French bread she eats with butter? I think she also likes the fried catfish from Brookshire's. She's off the chicken salad deal right now, I think.
I believe the Monjuni's dish usually has sausage.

Pretty sure it's the day old Brookshires rack rack Gris. Wally World has the best fried chicken in Shrevevegas. The rest is spot on, best I can tell.
