Can't believe it took 2 pages to mention Ninos

What I meant by that is that their location is somewhat hidden, and not easily visible. In a better location, they'd make a killing because the food is great.

I tried it once, and honestly I wasn't that impressed.
Also I notice that no pizza places have been mentioned. Sad that Baton Rouge doesn't have one truly legit pizza place.

In their defense, their Prime Rib special is outstanding and their beef ribs are to die for.

What the hell I'll give it a whirl, in no particular order also included a few of my preferred dishes(ignore the spelling):
Pinetta's - Weiner schnitzel, panzerotti
Thai Kitchen - Nu nam tok, masaman curry
Superior grill - Brisket
Bistro Byronz - Pot roast(however I feel like it changed in the last year slightly), turkey merci
Chelsea's - Chicken fried chicken, chicken mojo
Ichiban - spicy tuna salad, all of their sushi
Fat Cow - 120 burger
Zorba's - Avgolemno, grilled halloumi cheese, potatoes fournou(never been as excited about these potatoes)
Couyon's Port Allen - Ribs & moist brisket
Big Jake's - ribs
Best I could do to squeeze into a best 10, there are plenty more that are right on the cusp of the 10.

I went back and forth between Gino's and Nino's. Really just depends on what I'm more in the mood for.

This thread confirms what a shitty food-town BR is.

Mellow Mushroom or Red Zeppelin are probably the best. People say Fleur Di Lis for nostalgia.

Looks like I need to try this City Pork place out after reading everyone list.

TJ Ribs has excellent beef ribs. And damn good wings. I like the place. Every time I go there, I wonder why I don't go there more than once or twice a year.

They get a bad rap because their baby back ribs, their specialty and name sake, kinda suck. Their signature dish is no better than Chili's and their margarita's are the worst I've ever had. However, those beef ribs are freaking amazing.

Its very good, it didn't make my ten because I haven't been enough. Only been there twice. This is a favorite list not best list. For instance, pimanyoli's has the best tamales in town in my opinion, but it's not one of my favorite restaurants.

Well for me, my SO doesn't really like eating out in restaurants that often (she prefers to pick up takeout or cook) which is fine by me as I can rarely afford to eat somewhere nice. Also, my parents are cheap and live in St. Amant, so if we go somewhere "nice", it's usually Kevin's, Hilltop, or Sno's. In BR, they always want to eat at mediocre places like Mike Anderson's or Ralph & Kakoo's.
When you combine the time and monetary investment necessary to eat at one of these nicer places like Gino's, Ruffino's, Beausoleil, Le Creole, Stroube's, Ruth's Chris, Juban's, ect people end up having fewer opportunities to try these places. Seeing as there's a fairly large number of restaurants at that price point, that generally means that only so many of these places will be tried in a given year.

No, no it's not. The only people who think it's legit are the people who grew up eating it. Same goes for Pastime. People love it for sentimental reasons, but the food itself is mediocre. Don't get me wrong, I like FDL. But compared to pizza in other towns, it's nothing. Heck, there was a pizza food truck from Connecticut at the New Orleans FoodFest a few weeks ago that served pizza that blew any pizza in BR out of the water. Heck, the best pizza I've had in BR probably comes from Whole Foods.
