What’s with your peculiar and strong disdain for him?

No peculiar or strong distain for him. I grew up listening to him with my family, I have his book, I listened to him up until he went on the HD channel- which my car did not get.

I have never met the man in person although, I always wanted to go on one of his eat club dinners. I base my feelings only from listening to him on the radio. I think he is rude to callers, he feels he is above everyone else when he talks to a caller, he cuts some callers off when he does not agree, does not take criticism well and sometimes does not study up on the new ways and his way is not always right.

Other than this, he is a good resource, guide, informative about food. Helped put food as a talk show on the radio. I may not agree with his arrogant ways but, has done a lot for the food scene here in NOLA.

I want to chime in here to put a good word in for Tom Fitzmorris. He has always been a great ambassador for New Orleans and its restaurant scene. He radio show and website were especially important after Katrina. I have been to many of his Eat Club dinners over the years and on about four of his Eat Club cruises and have enjoyed them all. He seems to be on a path toward semi retirement but I hold him in high regard.

The radio host TF can come off as a pompous arse. That is a gimmick. I have spoken with TF a couple times over the years in person and found him to be a good guy.

Maybe if you’re 65 and visiting the city for the first time

He’s a hack and part of the reason why out of towners think Nola people are snobs

Always found him to be an arrogant, pompous arse. He has little appreciation for some of the simpler, absolute gem dishes this area is known for. He’s all about it being exquisite. When people call in and talk about a neighborhood joint or a mid level place, he kind of dismisses them. But hey, if people wanna listen, have at it.

I would tune in from time to time just because I'm in the business but when his wife joined fulltime it became unbearable. I honestly felt sorry for the poor guy. It's just 2 hours of her berating the poor senile bastard.
