Anyone have one of these? Looks pretty slick if it works like it seems it does.

Think there has been a thread on this before but I don't remember what people said.

Ive seen a video and it looks really easy to use. Peels, de-veins, and butterflies in one motion.

I received a toadfish oyster knife as a Christmas present and I like it a lot

If you need extra incentive to buy it a % of all toadfish sales go back into restoring oyster populations along coastline

Yea I saw they put some $ back into oysters. It’s Like “the oyster bed” company that makes those oyster platters for char grilling.

That’s one thing that caught my eye as well. I will be ordering some to try out.

May offer them through my side gig...but I have a freezer full of de-headed shrimp that I hate having to peel and deveine the standard way so I want to try them personally as well

I saw that oyster knife...they have a slick looking crab claw cracker too.

Here's a quck Youtube of a timed demonstration between knifing and the tool that is probably going to turn into a WHYI thread.

yea I saw that one. There another vid of some chick using one that look like she had no idea wtf she was doing with it lol.

I’m sold on it I’ll be ordering a dozen or so. Maybe some of the other stuff.

Peeling and deveining shrimp is something I loath, but damn I love me some shrimps.

I’ve been using mine for a year or so. As said above, once you get accustomed to how the tool needs to enter the meat of the shrimp, it’s a helluva time saver. I’ve given a few to friends and they’ve had the same experience.

I have used one of these my whole life. I was amazed how many people had never heard of this when I started asking around. $2.99 on Academy website.

Interesting...never seen that either lol.

The toadfish one has a blade on it...wonder what/if there is a difference. Will have to investigate.

I can peel with my hands quicker than that and hardly ever devein. I’ve had the red one for awhile and just never use.

I only devein if they are very large or butterflying to fry and frankly, since I’m doing the cooking mostly I subcontract that and the peeling out whenever I can.

I sub out all of the cleaning...so I do all the cooking including prep. Our food is better that way

Been using the prongs of a Fork for 30 years. Can’t justify spending 45 bucks on a pretty gadget that does the exact same job.

Been using the plastic one like that for years. Quick and easy, works great. I usually go back with a knife and butterfly them a bit more.

They are not $45? $28 on sale for 22ish right now. Still more than the plastic one and the forks.

I’m wondering if the blade on this one has any positive effects on the process over the plastic one or forks.
