Thoughts/info on restaurants at Evangeline Downs in Opelousas

I have an upcoming stay at Evangeline Downs... I have never stayed there but notice that there are at least 3 on site dining options. This will be a Saturday afternoon/night. I know there are many other better dining options close but I do not want to leave the site. With that said, checking to see if the Food Board has any thoughts, advice, experience, info etc.
TIA

I imagine it’s mostly Sysco hell. But just an educated supposition.

bypass the SYSCO / Ben E Keith food at EVD and go to Cafe Josephine in Sunset or Steamboat Restaurant in Washington ... both would be a 10-minute drive and 1000x's better than the racetrack

Thanks... I figured that. May, in fact likely will, do a lunch at Josephine or Steamboat on the way. Once i get to Evangeline Downs I don't want to leave; so I was just asking about the on site places as an option for a light dinner or late sit down spot.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Take the short drive to the Steamboat and order the seafood au gratin.
you can thank me later.

Infusion is the only restaurant I know of that still serves a Monte Cristo sandwich. My first management job was at a Bennigans, and the MC was by far our most popular item.

Little Big Cup is a 20 min drive.

Thanks to everyone that replied and for the info and thoughts. We are leaning toward a late lunch at either Steamboat or Josephine on the way; then maybe a late evening SYSCO appetizer and some drinks at one of the on site establishments later.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Inside the main building the Spotted Horse was surprisingly good to me. Well seasoned I guess because people in that area are generally good Louisiana cooks. Don't expect good beer or wine from the racetrack bars. I like the indoor pool at the hotel as well.....the hot tub is usually out of order. Have fun!!
