Then, with Bud's Broiler, it was on Fla at Airline, and seemingly off many BR folks radar for a burger.
I am of the belief that a 24 hour Bud's (or at least one that stayed open until a bit after the bars close) somewhere in the general campus / drunk bus area that operated in a similar way as the one on Clearview in Metairie would be viable.

I wish they still had their milkshakes and pies, though...

I would change Mexican to be a wash post-Katrina.

Greek/Lebanese in NOLA is slightly above BR...does BR even have a Greek place...we have Mr. Gyro's and Acropolis.

ETA: Lebanon's is better than I have had in BR...plus we have a market...Byblo's on Vets.

true, forgot about the taco shops popping up everywhere....but the same thing has happened in BR post-K (Siegen lane area is very strong), so i still think i have to give them the slight edge.

Not sure about exclusively greek, that's why i lumped them together as most restaurants are Greek & Lebanese, like Albasha for example. Ate there monday, and i forgot how much better is than what i get at Mona's, Byblos, etc.

At Clearview? The last several times I was in there they no longer had them.. they re-arranged the drink area and got rid of the shake machine. Now you serve your own drink (but still have to pay for refills).

I stay away from Romans since they lifted CC info. Zorbas never tried.. I do like Albasha though.

Definitely Annandale. I could tell when I was driving through by my inability to read any of the shop signs.

Man no love for the hot dog stand I'm proposing?

Don't you all realize we are in a depression?

I think the Hot Dog stand could work here, Martini. Todd Graves did it with chicken fingers. Someone has to be able to do it with hot dogs. Weinerschnitzel does not count.

i've said for years a Gray's Papaya would work on the edge of campus.....but it would need a ton of foot traffic.

we are in a depression? I hadn't noticed. Construction projects gem katrina are actually growing jobs in Nola.

What about a bistro? Does bread have a moderately priced French place?

TA, come on. NOLA is not immune. Just near me on Magazine multiple spots have went out of business recently, with other big name restaurants seeing their crowds much smaller than usual. We are a tourist dependent town, and the nations troubles WILL hit NOLA in due time. It's already hitting to a degree.

My post was partially facetious....but Martini's dire predictions of Depression are a bit much I think. This is just a recession, and NOLA and BR were named top 10 places to ride it out.

It will hit us, but not as bad as the rest of the country.

BTW, what places have closed?
