Went to the Halal Guys on St. Charles for lunch and it was locked up tight w interior being torn up. Certified mail stickers and competitor's flyers on the door.

I know there were mixed reviews on the board (trending negative) but I for one will miss this place. Hit it up at least once per week.

I never really understood the national franchise expansion. I mean, when it was a cart on 6th Ave and you weren't expecting much out of a styro box, it was good enough. But as a platform for nationwide expansion? Meh.

people hate it but i LOVE it. I'd much rather a flavorful bowl from there for cheap than something like chipotle.

The carts in NY are okay. Didn't even know they were in Louisiana.

My only two times they were just meh. Everything tasted like stuff I could get out the freezer aisle at Rouses.

Way too many better options in BR. The grilled halloumi at Zorba’s is worth it’s weight in gold.

Ate at the one on Lee when they opened and it was terrible. Super dry chicken and just spicy as hell. I didn’t see a reason to ever try it again when I know I can get the same food for much better nearby

That’s not saying much. That place must have been bad.
Never been there, but been to Rouse

Go try the leg of lamb sandwich with grilled halloumi and roasted tomatoes at Zorbas. It’s worth the stop I promise.

That Zorbas sandwich would pair nicely with a side of au jus.

Was this some Louisiana staple?

There are numerous locations in DFW and I don’t know a single person who actually has been to one.

not at all. Just rapidly expanded and opened a few stores a few years ago. I ate twice at the one in downtown NOLA and didn't care for it at all so never went back.

Flavorful? what? Have you tried it without dousing it in sauce? It’s dry as hell rice, meat, lettuce and tomato.

Chipotle is 1000x tastier and better quality and still under $10.

Halal guys is like Taco Bell: Good at 2:00 AM drunk as hell.
