I don't know why we have thread after thread with people debating this. Meet your protein goals and fill the rest in how you see fit for your lifestyle

What is your problem with that statement?
Because the very nature of ketosis is an abundance of fat.
The research has shown clearly that you need to have AT LEAST 70% of your calories from fat for your body to enter ketosis. Which is why its not a great diet to build muscle with. But anyhow, downplaying the importance of fat intake completely undermines the ketogenic approach.
The poster is right about one small thing he implied, but didn't state overtly - you don't need to eat a lot of fat to lose weight. But you do need to eat A TON of fat to go into ketosis.
Also, saying that fat was just for satiety. Again, actual research has shown fat has the lowest satiety of the macronutrients. Beside it being denser with calories per gram than carbs and protein. Protein has the highest satiety, followed by carbs. Per gram, and even calorie, its damn hard to get satiated on fat.
Just hilarious- someone representing knowledge on ketogenic diets by saying fat isn't that important. Classic internet, I guess.

Got some links for this? Because it goes against pretty much damn near everything out right now.
Not saying you're wrong...I just haven't run across this claim before.

Here is a study I just did

I'm no scientist and certainly willing to be wrong. Can you show me some things that are reporting fat to have high satiety and not related to overeating?

What keto helped me do was kick sugar and carb cravings. That, in and of itself, makes the diet worth it for a period of time.
I no longer crave sugary drinks or desserts. Rarely crave bread or any sort of sandwich. Hell my wife even ditched creamer, which her coffee 70-30 creamer to coffee. Drinks it black now. It's amazing how much sugar is in everything, even some of the La Croix flavors are too sweet for me now.

Low carb is awesome and most people who are serious about losing weight learn to limit their carbs on their own because it is pretty much the only way to get enough food and not be starving all the time.
The work-around recipes are where it gets confusing, if you're doing them all the time at least. A friend is doing it, and she makes some pretty .. interesting.. things. She wants to do low carb but she doesn't want to give up desserts and foods that are carb-heavy. So she uses substitute ingredients.
She just typed out a Keto pancake recipe. Said it makes only a small amount "so you may want to double it". Without doubling, I typed into MFP recipe builder the exact ingredients in the recipe.... 600 total calories, for something she sometimes doubles. She's 4'11". Low carb is great. But I don't understand making a recipe double the calories than the original. Seems counterproductive.

I agree with you entirely, but you could argue this can happen regardless whether you're doing Keto. Just simple restricting should open your eyes to the foods that aren't worth it anymore.
