Got this poboy last time I ate there. Not $15 good. To me it was worth about $6 or $7. The slaw was not what I was expecting.

A bad decision on there part was making a slaw that was for only one sandwich. A place like that doesn't need to make special toppings for just one sandwich. A waste IMO.

I agree that it's horribly overrated. Worst part of the entire thing was, it was a Saturday afternoon in the middle of football season, and instead of the TV near me having a game on, they were showing old reruns of Two and a Half Men

I'm afraid most of baton rouge and even Louisiana dosen't agree with you...

The food's always good to me. They did change up the blackended gator last time I was in though.

Chimes is awesome. It is a rare find in that it has great food and an amazing beer selection. Usually you get 1 or the other.

I would like to get the name of the canned brown gravy that you get with their awesome cheese fries. I love that gravy.

In college this was my go-to. They'd put it on poboy bread for me and dress it up with the dipping sauce instead of mayo. I found my wife waiting tables there, so I have a soft spot in my heart for the place.

I really enjoyed that poboy when I had it. The blue cheese slaw on it with the bacon went together really well. Now for the price they charged for it I wish they would offer a smaller version for like 7 bucks. 15 bucks is too high for any poboy.

While I suppose I agree it's not technically "sports bar" (although, it's probably as close to it as you can be without actually being one) it's certainly enough of a college sports oriented place that it would be safe to assume if they have TVs on in the place on a Saturday in the fall, they will be showing college football and not some old lame arse syndicated sitcom.

and sports is the only thing that works on TV with the sound down for the most part .. who wants to watch sitcom reruns with no sound ?

Biggest issue with Chimes is that they serve what they call Duck Gumbo and it has no duck in it. Unless you think Chickens look like ducks.

I don't get this either. I still like the Chimes much more than you do Rag, but I agree that it has slipped a bit over the years.

So by this reasoning, McDonalds must be a 5 star right? The Chimes is very blah. Taste like every other place that has po boys and fried seafood.

Coursey location is better at this point. The original is a shell of its former self. Its sad. The new frozen fries are

yeah, that logic isn't ironclad ... just go by the chimes three nights in a given week and look at the clientele that is in there ... sure .. the place prints money .. but they can't keep wait people consistently and have a pretty bad turnover because they aren't making jack in tips .. i will leave it at that ...

I've found that a lot of college kids like it, mainly because they don't know any better. But to me, I can't find anything about the place that doesn't scream "AVERAGE"

Their beer selection has gone to crap. It's still better than most places in town (not hard at all) but with that many taps it leaves a LOT to be desired.

And I was very disappointed in the cheese fries last time I went in.
