looks like it changed hands. Dunno which group is running it now or if it was struggling.
Article is behind a paywall which no sane person should be paying for.

I heard the food wasn't terrible, but never having been I can't comment.
Sorta surprised Byronz is still there too

Went to Byronz Friday night at 7:30 and it was a ghost town. They never should have left the original spot on Government.

That building is cursed these days. When it opened it was hot shite and then Covid hit and it's never recovered.
Tap had decent food the one time we went but I think the 'Wall of Taps' concept died a while back.

Yea, craft beer is on the way out. A spot in that building prob isn't cheap to rent either. And honestly, not enough people like Indian food. Even indian-fusion like that stuff is enough to keep people away.

There are 4 or 5 Indian restaurants in town, I’m pretty sure people like it.

Pelican House killed it.
And not "killed it" in a good way.

I loved the old owners. They also owned Mid Tap. However, when the craft beer bubble burst, so did their business model. The reality is that people just straight up can't afford to consume craft beer in the same volume that they did before. And with a "pour your own beer" style place, you need a constant stream of people or else your kegs will sour.
Their food was very good, but it was Indian food toned down for white people. The problem is that the people who would actually like that are too scared to try Indian food in the first place, and the people who aren't want the real thing. As a result, the restaurant was sorta a tweener. I loved it, but being a broke-arse, I couldn't afford to eat or drink there super often.
Because it wasn't a traditional bar, it wasn't "cool" to just show up solo to drink there like I can at say Ivar's or one of the bars downtown. The food was good, but it couldn't compete price or flavor wise with places like Swagat or Punjabi Dahba, so if I was really craving Indian, I would drive out of my way for it. It was a great spot for a date, but most of the time it was open, I was dating someone who wouldn't try it.
I hope they can find a way to make a version of the concept work.
