Ran for the Border at lunch today. Wanted to try the new Cantina Bowl they've been advertising about. Also wanted to see if World Renown Chef Garcia was back in the kitchen infusing some rice with cilantro and shite. She wasn't. Just Leroy, Pookie and them like always. Not sure if The Bell sends the gang down to Mexico to train under world renowned Chef Garcia like Olive Garden does their chefs, but I'm thinking they probably do. Hand roasting corn, cilanto infusing rice and whatnot is not something easily done by the untrained hand. Anyway, for those of you out of the loop, here's Chef Garcia and what the bowl looks like on TV

Here's what it actually looks like.

All in all though it was pretty good. Not saying it's gonna bump my standard Mexican pizza, 2 taco supreme combo meal, but I will try to work it in the rotation. 1 Cantina bowl, 1 chicken soft taco, and 1 Large Mountain Dew was a little under 9 clams. Not too shaby IMHO.

I can only consume that stuff after midnight and while under the influence. Chicken soft tacos are good enough for that.

That is what spawned my craving for Taco Bell. Now I get the urge every month or two. This was my first trip back since the overrated arse Dorito Taco came out. Don't think Chef Garcia had a hand it that one..

I've had this twice

one chicken

one steak

the chicken was much better, as it did have the citrus flavor

frankly I was pretty impressed. Mine were laid out much better than yours in the pic, I watched them, they actually took the time to put things where they were suppose to be....I was shocked

all in all for 5 bucks it was a good deal...I'll eat again

I know. It was though. I told Leroy and Pookie they need to work on their plating skillz. They thanked me for my constructive critizism and vowed to do better in the future.

Damn tetu must be nice to be one of yall's feral cats. Getting to eat gourmet food prepared by a woman that's cooked on FOUR Continents.

Mr. Balls, I'm sorry, but those bowl things make me nauseated just thinking about them. I don't remember what that bowl is at KFC and I think Popeye's has one. They're like everything they serve in one bowl. Reminds me of scraping my lunch plate into the garbage can back in parochial grammar school. I can't understand how people eat that stuff.

Haters gonna hate Gris. Maybe you're just jealous of Ms. Garcia and all the continents she's cooked on. Maybe your jealousy causes you to lash out at all things bowl and dreges up bad memories of lunch room trash cans.

I tried the burrito version and it was really good for fast food. I'll definitely get it again.

Tried it at the Port Allen TB a week ago.

First, let me say that the Port Allen TB is absolutely disgusting. The "workers" are some of the rudest degenerates I have ever come across. There were dozens of flies in the restaurant, which I didn't notice until I sat down and was swatting them away. The trash was over flowing. It was a mistake I'll never repeat again.

The Cantina Bowl, with the chicken, was ok. They put so much dressing on it though that it was more like a soup. Ok flavor for a fast food meal.

That all said, Chef Garcia should be embarrassed to have her name attached to this, and it shows money will buy and can buy anything. Can't wait for the Bobby Flay McBobby at McDonalds.
