Sweet Tea
Gotta have my sweet tea.
Sounds so simple but mine just don't taste as good as the tea I get from restaurants.
Do they use industrial Brewers or what.
Also what tea brand does everyone use.

Just buy milos or great value and save yourself the hassle of making it yourself.

re: Sweet Tea
Fill the tea pot with water, about a quart. Throw in three family-size bags of Lipton and bring to boil. Take off burner, cool to tepid, fish out the bags with a flat slotted spoon. Pour hot tea over two cups of Dixie Crystals sugar in pitcher. Stir until dissolved. Add cold water to fill gallon pitcher and place in refrigerator.

My method except I only use 3/4cup of sugar. Damn.

re: Sweet Tea
Tell me what I am doing wrong..I use a stainless steel 5 qt pot to boil the water. I put in the big Lipton tea bag (1 gallon use). I leave it in there for about an hour or two. When I fish the bag out there is a dark film on top of the liquid. After two or three uses I have to scrub to get the film ring off the pot.

Use 3-4 family size bags, cold water, and put them in when you start the heat. When it boils, it’s done. Don’t let it boil the bags. Tea leaves get out.

re: Sweet Tea
i found it has a much better flavor if you boil the water first, they turn the fire off and throw the bags in right away. it gives it a richer smoother and less bitter harsh taste then if you boil the bags. i think too much heat scorches the tea and gives it a bitterness.

try it that way, its a way different flavor when you throw the bags in boiling hot water (after turning off the heat) vs boiling the bags

re: Sweet Tea
Thanks everyone,
Keakar, that is exactly the method I have always done. Two (2) family size Lipton bags and a cup and a 1/2 sugar.
Restaurant sweet tea is so much better than mine. Most of them anyway. Thank you all

re: Sweet Tea
Try 3 family size bags of tea and increase the sugar to 2 cups. Also make sure your total volume of tea is about 3/4 of a gallon. You can adjust total volume according to your taste.

I don’t see how adults can handle sweet tea. Haven’t been able to drink it in years. Unsweet with a splash of sweet is sweet enough for me

milos

The shite they sell in the stores is nothing like what they sell at their restaurants, which is some of the best sweet tea I've ever had.

re: Sweet Tea
My go-to:

Simple syrup (3/4 cup water, 3/4 cup sugar)
Boil 3 cups water
Remove from heat and steep 6 Luzianne tea bags for 6 minutes
Add a pinch of baking soda (this is the trick, makes the tea smoother)
Combine tea and simple syrup in a pitcher; top with 7 more cups of water

Same. I like it a little sweet but most places make it like syrup, and have to order half/half.

re: Sweet Tea
Anyone have a good flavored iced tea?

When I lived in shreveport decades ago, there was the restaurant that served this peach tea that was awesome. The tea was famous and they would not give out the recipe.
