Anyone done any wine tours around Paso Robles, CA?
Any you suggest? I know we'll be hitting up Eberle due to the owner's LSU connection.
Any restaurant suggestions?
Thanks for any suggestions.

We just went in September for my wife’s 50th. I’ll give you our itinerary and food places because we had an amazing experience at all of them.
Wineries
Hawks Hill Ranch - we did the ATV tour which was phenomenal
Bodega Dr Edgar - Spanish varietals. Just a tasting room in an industrial park but they should be close to finishing their tasting room at the winery
Law Estates - great wine. Mostly GSM and blends. Beautiful view and tasting room
L’Adventure - We did the library tasting in the caves. Beautiful wine and property
Zobeto - very small production. Taste outside under the pistachio trees, which you get to snack on while tasting. Lovers their wine also
Food
Niner Wine Estates - Full-service restaurant at a winery. Food was amazing. You can also do a tasting while you’re having lunch. The outside courtyard area where you eat is beautiful.
StreetSide Ale House and Eatery - bar food but burgers were amazing. Large tap beer and bourbon selection
Finca Paso Robles - counter service and small but amazing tacos and margs
Junction Tapas and Winebar - Spanish tapas and wine. Paella was the bomb. Owner/chef was very nice. We went twice!!
Firestone Walker Brewing Company - huge arse brewery with an awesome food menu
We also took an off day and drove down to the coast….Morro Bay. Very cool spot on the Pacific. We hopped around for apps and drinks. We stopped at Rose’s Bar and Grill, Dutchman’s Seafood House, and The Galley Seafood Grill and Bar. Morro Bay has its own oysters and they are tasty!!
Let me know if you need any information. You can always DM me. We love Paso. Hope y’all have a great time.

I visited Truss when I was there. Small producer. Nice Pinot and Rose. He had a food truck out there that day that had one of the best burgers that I’ve ever had.
If you like beer, Firestone-Walker is in Paso Robles. It’s a pretty impressive place. Good food and phenomenal beer.

Take the state highway that goes over the coastal range to Hwy 1. Drive up to Cambria. Maybe do the Hearst Castle too.

Thanks for putting all that info together Scoob. Above and beyond.
Thanks to all others for the suggestions also.
We’re going to stay one night in Solvang on our way to Robles from LA.
Anyone been there?

I like Law Estate and I like Tablas Creek. Both have nice setups. Eberle’s cave setup/tour is cool.
Herman Story is an interesting/quirky place in the town and has some very interesting wines. They have a wine tasting room, but it’s not a vineyard since it’s in the middle of town. Their official website directions are “we are between the tire shop and the welding place.” And they just recently started posting their address.

If you want a splurge, take a look at the Inn at Mattei's Tavern in Los Olivos. About 10 minutes from Solvang.
I pride myself in getting a lot of bang for the buck when I travel, which allows us to stay longer and do more. $1,256 a night (for the night we're there) would have us eating PB&J sandwiches the rest of the trip.

I have been to Solvang a couple of times.
The first time was over 30 years ago. It was a quaint, sleepy and atmospheric little Dutch village.
I went several years ago and it was much more built up in a Gatlinburd kind of way.
Still worth visiting.
The famous restaurant is Andersen’s Pea Soup.
I have restaurant and winery recs that I will post later when I have my notes.

Here are my Paso Robles recommendations:
We stayed at the Paso Robles Inn right on the square. It is a nice place and within easy walking distance to all of the good restaurants.
There are a number of excellent restaurants there. Not dozens and dozens of them like there are in the Napa Valley, but plenty enough.
BL Brasserie, LaCosecha, and Il Cotille are three very good ones. There is a restaurant and rooftop bar at Hotel Piccolo.
Taste Tapas Bar was a good casual lunch place.
All of the restaurants are either on the square or within a block or two of it.
We went to a bunch of wineries.
Daou was the most scenic. It is on top of a small mountain with beautiful views of the vineyards sloping down the hill. You have to reserve tastings in advance and you have to have a reservation just to get on the premises.
We joined their wine club. We got a case of our favorites shipped home and got free tastings as part of the deal. We had lunch there and the bartender put on another premium tasting for us.
Justin is another nice one with a pretty tasting facility.
Our favorite smaller winery was Calcareous. We had lunch and a tasting and a short tour there. Delicious wines and friendly people.
A little outside of town are Donati and Turley which are right across the street from each other.
We love Paso Robles. It is a more laid back and countryfied version of Napa.

Agreed. You really can't go wrong staying around the town square and when the evening comes and the wind starts pouring across the mountains, it's a beautiful thing to experience.
All the wineries listed in this thread and Daou is a must see. I do suggest that you find a couple boutique wineries to visit. Their tastings are pure, offering wines that are not blended to present the same flavor profile year after year. You get to experience wines that are affected by the climate and varying temperate seasons. These wines are meant to be consumed and just offer that little something different that is very apparent in each sip. We had a wonderful experience at Pelletiere Winery, just one that comes to mind.
We also went to Sensario, this amazing walk through LED lighting experience near Paso.
