Going to lunch tomorrow with friends and we are tired of the same places. Can anyone suggest something newish in Baton Rouge but not too expensive? I was thinking about Gouter but their menu on their website is very small and when you zoom in it goes all blurry so I have no clue what half of it says or their prices. Any other suggestions?

Ever try Zealand St market?

Woops, missed the "newish" part. Sorry

I haven't been to Stabilers new Italian on Jefferson. I also haven't been to Don Bergerons new place on Jerrerson. Try one of those.

Good suggestions. There really aren't too many new options here in the BR food scene. I have heard very good reviews of Gouter for lunch fwiw.

Yeah, I have heard the same but I just worry about prices. I don't mind spending more on dinner but I don't like to spend a lot on lunch.

Bergerons place is an odd setup. It's a cafeteria line like picadilly and not a ton of seating. My wife and I got our food, stood around for a few minutes waiting for a table to open up, and ended up bringing the tray outside and eating in my truck. It was awkward at best. Food was good though.

Gouter is a good lunch spot. I like it better for dinner though.

The Merchant has started to become a go to lunch spot for me as well.

Didn't know merchant opened for lunch. Gouter lunch is meh. I had Palermo yesterday. It's pretty good but pricey for some.
