Things must have changed since I've been there. People used to always rave about it. I was never a huge texmex fan so I never really used my own judgement on the place. Just went when others wanted to go.

The Mexican food there is horrible. Whenever someone on here makes a recommendation of what to order, it's usually rabbit, or fried chicken, or something other than Mexican/TexMex. All their Tex/Mex dishes are made with Velveeta, they are disgusting. People go there to drink, which can be a good time, but there are better places to go if you want Mexican or Tex/Mex.

The OP did three weeks ago. The guy who bumped asked for:

Bump. Will be there tonight. Messican a priority with 4 year old in tow.

We never went much, I only had rabbit when I did. Maybe thats why i never thought it was horrible. Like I said earlier though, I never chose to go there.

Lafondas is a testament to the powers of tequila and
how it can make the blind see and bad food
taste great.

I don't think they even put tequila in their margaritas, it's everclear. Which would further support your theory.

I sometimes go to Blue Agave Messican downtown, but tonight you have Festivals International down there and it will be all chaos and drunkedness.

Then theres Posados on Ambassador Caffrey. Nothing special, but its close to my house so I go.

*Then theres alwys Popeyes all u can eat buffet and sides on Pinhook and S College*

I recommend Coyote Blues as well. It is kid friendly and the food is really good.

I agree that La Fonda has seen better days...

Foodwise, I agree GB. Its clearly never been the best. But to get drunk on 151 everclear Marguiritas and watch sloppy drunk eyecandy, a Bullseye every time.

2Paul's is my new favorite spot in Laffy.

ETA: It's not Mexican, but they feature their own pepper jelly sauce with their BBQ, and what kid wouldn't like a side of mac and cheese?

Bella Figura on Kaliste Saloom is the best Italian resturant in Lafayette. I tried Immonellis (sp) and it was not good and way over priced.
