As far as I can tell, and correct me if I am wrong, I did not see anyone championing for Subway to set up shop there.

Besides the Subway franchisee? Which is really all that should matter.

If people would eat there and make it profitable I don’t see why anyone would oppose it

Seems silly to block any business from opening without letting consumers decide.

Not sure these arguments hold water. There is a Pinkberry in the 5400 block of Magazine(was a Subway location at one time), and there is Izzo's in the 4100 block at the old Popeye's location. Also, what about the eyesore of the old Chicken building across Valence street? Is that the culture of Magazine Street?

Izzo’s is at least a “local chain”. I think they are mainly not wanting to cater to the Subway “crowd”, by the “if I didn’t have a whole lot of money I may go to Subway” line.

Who is they in this scenario?

Do people get to vote as to who opens up on Magazine Street now?

Because I think two hummus places across from each other is overkill. And do we need a CC's and PJ's? Already have Shaya so Saba needs to go somewhere else.

The corner of Valence and Magazine is a disaster. Drug dealer from Houston owns the Chicken place and won't sell. The crappy strip mall across the street has a check cashing place, laundromat, etc. The convenience store nearby draws a terrible crowd. The last thing that area needs is a Subway to add to it.

Other than the pedophile as a spokesman I didn't know Subway's were hangout's for a bad element.

I'm sure Versace will move in now that Subway has bowed out. The car repair garages will give it an industrial look.

Subway is for poor people and those with terrible taste and we are trying to keep both types out of the neighborhood.

There’s also a Starbucks uptown.

I get the idea that people don’t want Magazine to turn into Veterans, but this argument against subway is kind of lame.

Also, wasn’t there a subway in the corner of Magazine and Louisiana at some point?

“It doesn’t fit magazine street”

In the same mall as a check cashing place, nail salon and laundrymat

If you can’t tell the difference between putting up a Starbucks or Subway you are definitely not the type of basic white woman that Magazine Street is trying to attract.

Yes, there was one where the "new" CVS is now.

ETA: Starbucks and Subway draw vastly different crowds.

There was also one on the corner of Joseph and Magazine in that little strip across from Whole Foods.
