Cook steaks on the Kamado Joe all the time. Sear them each side for about 4 minutes…then lower temp with vents and cook for additional 4-5 minutes on each side.

Seem to get a nice pick middle each time. Damn good eating.

I want to keep an eye on this next order.... I'm kind of interested in getting in on that order in the fall, possibly in the spring. I've been jealous since the last time Wick did this.

Same here. Hope it happens

Just for reference, what temp do you sear at, what temp do you finish at, and what is your goal internal temp/doneness level?

I ask because it seems like you would overshoot your thermal destination if you slam on the accelerator first (sear) then pull them and wait for the temps to reduce by a couple hundred degrees in order to finish.

It just seems like the time for the kamado temp to come down would be so long that the up and down and up temperature of the meat would be all over the place.

The two things that kept me away from buying originally were price and size. Combined, I didn't want to spend that amount of money on a grill that was substantially smaller than my weber and that I might not enjoy cooking on charcoal. Well, scratch the charcoals portion out because it's just as easy as gas. And the size of the primo is perfect. I don't know if I would like one the size of the bgeL, grill domeL, kamado joe, or primo L.

No, I built this one out of scrap I had laying around (I've since topped it with treated deck boards). I've got plans drawn up for a fancy one with drawers and cabinets but I haven't planed my cypress yet.

Things are looking more favorable for something this spring I scrolled through old emails and tried to send emails of those that wanted one on past orders but passed for whatever reason and might have interest this time around. We need a certain number of units to be able to order. If you aren't in Louisiana or the gulf coast or don't want to drive over here to get it this isn't for you...

About starters. I bought and have been using 2 electric starters. It takes about 20 mins to get lit with them, but that is also about the time it takes me to prepare most meats / whatever is going on the cooker.

I might have to try a MAPP gas torch though.

Where did you get the plans from? I've been trying to find some plans of a decent table to build myself.

The only plans I've seen are for open tables similar to the one I just posted. I sketched plans for one with a cabinet but they're so messy it wouldn't even be worth posting them. It's mostly all in my head. I'm good with picturing then building cabinets and stuff like that.

I've got some slate tiles left over from a project so that will be my top.

2 people on here have really nice tables. One has grill dome in his table and the other is a primo. I forget who has them.
