They are trying to make a comeback with a few locations around the country. Don't know if Metairie has one yet. Check the website.

That used to be a good date place 40 years ago but it closed decades ago.

My roommate 20 years ago was the bar manager at a Steak and Ale down the street from us. Free drinks and 50% off food so I ate there at least 4 times a week until they closed overnight with no warning to the employees.
A few days after they went out of business I hear a bunch of clanking in the garage in the middle of the night. As part of his severance package he went and cleaned out every bottle of wine and liquor in the building. We drank good for 6 months or so.

Steak and Ale in Metairie is now Chick-fil-A at 3870 Veterans.

They making a comeback and I read they had 4 just opened and one was in Metairie is why I was asking,

Steak and ale. The name never caught my attention. Perhaps I was too young when these establishments were in the prime. I do recall the red neon sign. Thanks for the memories. Rip ponchos
