I am in sales and run all over Houston. In the less desirable areas weller SR is everywhere, buffalo trace no problem, E H Taylor is still very hard to find but found that and Eagle Rare in the last week. Yet to run into Blantons.

You wont find any of them at Spec's or Total Wine.

That's close to MRSP for 1.75 but not for 1. The longbranch is priced at MRSP

When (if) I see Buffalo Trace in the Boston area it's typically limit 1pp and in the $40-$50 range.

Blanton's is almost impossible, and not going for MSRP.

Baby Saz can be found, but typically about $25ish bottle. Maybe as high as $30, maybe you can find a "deal" and catch it at $24.

Interestingly enough, I can typically find Eagle Rare, but it'll be about $36.

I've seen a fair amount of Henry McKenna 10 year lately, it's typically in the $60 range and limit 1pp.

Rum can be hard to come by if it's the good stuff. Four Square will move here, but I think the price tag deters some people. But at the same time, the supply is so low that if you don't get in there semi-quickly it'll be gone. A bottle might last 3-4 days on the shelf, priced between $70-$130 (that I've seen) depending on the bottle.

I just wish I could buy freaking Herbsaint here smh. Anyway, that's the perspective from a completely different market.

That’s more than double the local retail. Crazy

Well, you can't find BT around here these days and the guy that owns the place knows that. He also had Sagamore Cognac finish for $90 and EHT small batch for $99. Both way overpriced.

Saw Buffalo Trace on sale 2 for 1 the other day. Everything but Weller on the shelf in Washington. I am starting to see less and less EH Taylor around.

Just visit a fiesta bev mart or two and I'm confident you'll find Wellers and BT. Maybe luck into something else. They only give any liquor store a few bottles of E H Taylor so wherever you go, just ask the day they get their buffalo trace deliveries, and be there at 10am when the store opens.

The Beverage Store on Florida Blvd. was always my go-to in BR for bourbon... but that was before it went completely nuts. Joan would save some of the BTAC stuff for me because she knew I would pay $90 for a bottle and would enjoy it.

This LEO article from here in Louisville gets into why we’re seeing shortages of more than just BT. It’s largely a demand issue.

It's a unique product that can't be made quickly. The aging process is where the bottleneck is. I went to Buffalo Trace in 2018 and they were about to start a billion dollar expansion. That's billion with a B. The problem is, by the time they're done and can increase production, all that bourbon has to age 8, 10, 12 etc years, which was pointed out in the article. That means most of these bourbons in question made today won't be available until 2030 or later.

When you see the demand for it now, as well as a big increase in exports, it's a recipe for shortages/allocations.

And the glass piece that was mentioned in previous posts is true too. I work in strategic procurement for a massive global company and one of my counterparts buys glass. We get virtually all of our glass from Mexico and there are only a handful of producers left, partly due to consolidation in the industry, so when there's a spike in demand, it takes them a while to get caught up and they'll have to make a decision if they want to invest in more production when you have the market for glass bottles in soft drinks continuing to decline, which was a large part of their volume previously. Glass is now more expensive due to production costs, and your shipping a heavy item, based on it's size, under ever increasing freight costs.

I'm piling on here but most BT products (ER, Blanton's, Weller, EHT, etc.) have been allocated in my state (AR) for awhile now. AR also gets a smaller allocation of BT products than adjacent states (LA, TX, TN, etc.). For whatever reason BT is readily available on the shelf in Memphis.
