Southern Eagle Purchasing Glazer's Beer Portfolio

This should give Southern Eagle more clout to make deals for more craft beers in LA. They are more concentrated in craft beers then Glazer.

Probably a good thing in Lafayette, those jokers can't deliver the accounts they have so they could stand to lose a few brands

Call me cynical, but I don't know that further consolidation of the state's alcohol distribution network is necessarily a good thing. Personally, I'd like to see the whole thing blown apart, and do away with such a silly and anachronistic forced middle-man system.

I agree that the system as a whole is horrible. Short of a overhaul(unrealistic), having a major company that is more interested in smaller producers is a good thing. Time will tell, I was just bring to the boards attention.
I'm a more recent convert to beer, thanks in part to some on this board. I look forward to expanding my beer knowledge.

It would be nice to have access straight from te brewery itself.
Apparently they can sell up to 20% (iirc) at the brewery (some lost law that a suit recently found) so a release day at the end of te year would make it easy for breweries to know how many bottles they can sell directly with ought going over their limit.

It's actually the other way around. Mockler & Champagne own Southern Eagle.

No, not necessarily. I don't think they should be legally deprived of that option, though. Especially when a middleman distributor, who has essentially become a monopoly, is, for whatever reason, unwilling or unable to provide certain products that an individual retailer feels his customers may be demanding.

The system is a joke for sure. Glazers and Republic have to send multiple reps into each account to service different brand lines in their own company.
There is a monopoly on alcohol in the state. Possibly the country.

Right... if someone wants to self distribute or sell direct they should be allowed to. If they want to make their lives easier and have a distributor pick up their stock and spread it around, go for it as well!

Correct.
Probably open up a situation where a larger craft brewery helps distribute locally the best beers in the area a la Stone in Cali.

It was really Murphy Painter interpreted the laws one way (which was often subject to whatever he thought) and the new ATC commissioner interprets them correctly.
Im not a betting man, but Troy Hebert is probably going to be beneficial to producers, distributors, and drinkers of the state in helping to relax some of the draconian laws.
