This looks to be the new building going up at this corner. Looks very quintessential. If this is just another “upscale” oyster/poboy/gumbo joint, this concept is so tired. And has already failed a few times in town. Who thought it a good investment to sink all that money into the real estate, development, and construction for that concept? I give it less than a year.

If they own the land and the building, it'll last longer than that.

Drove by Saturday and looks to be getting close. I'll give it a shot once it opens.

Well most of the others in BR are overrated and underwhelming so if done right, could succeed.

This is same place as half shell oyster house in biloxi but they changed the name here because of On The Half Shell in prairieville.

What?

Quintessential Uptown neighborhood joint.

Quintessential new money place to show off.

Quintessential is used to describe what the thing you’re trying to explain embodies, or posses the essence of...IDK?

Visited their booth multiple times at Taste Of Tiger tailgating. They were grilling oysters right outside on open pit. Rather tasty I thought. As good or better than others I’ve had. That is an excellent location for the happy hour pit stop. Put together a nice bar and comfortable atmosphere and I bet they’ll do fine.

It opened yesterday and I visited for lunch today.

Interior build-out is nice and service was great. Food was average. Seafood gumbo was loaded with shrimp but tasted like it was straight from Piccadilly. Oyster po-boy had great bread but oysters were to the point of almost being bad. Not a great taste and rubbery. $45 lunch for the wife and I. I'll give it another shot for some charbroiled oysters, but left today pretty disappointed.

Drago's is opening soon right by I-10 and College, so I imagine this will not bode well for Southern Pearl Oyster Bar

God forbid they have a bit of time to work the kinks out.

One thing I learned from Tom Fitzmorris before he started hiding his own Easter eggs is to give a restaurant 6 months before trying it.

Went this past Friday night. Very crowded, but good service. Everything we got was excellent. Fish cooked perfectly.
The cinnamon roll bread pudding was probably the best I have ever had.
I'll be back.

The one here in Lafayette is a waste of time. It is not bad but no more than a C- food wise.

I’ve been twice. First time I got the royal reds and they were seasoned really well and they give you a lot. Definitely will be a regular customer since it’s close to home.
