Son turned deep freezer off

Just now noticed. Everything on top is thawed out but still very cold. Stuff at the bottom still has ice on it.
Got it turned back on to the max cold to try to save it. No bad smell at all, and again still some ice in there.
Toss it all? Cook what has thawed? Or just refreeze and good to go?

If it's cold, it's safe.
Refreeze and go.

If stuff that’s “thawed” is still very cold, as in has ice still n it … all good.
I would cook what doesn’t have ice on/in it. Personally. Been down this road and still here to tell about it.

Threw temp gauge in there for a minute, 46 just sitting on top so it hasn't been over 40 long I'm guessing. Might cook the top layer and refreeze?
Stuck temp gauge in a pack of ground meat, read right at 40 even though no ice on it.

If it's cold, it's safe. Refreezing can affect quality, depending on what it is. There's no reason to be questioning yourself unless the food wasn't cold.

Any seafood I’d cook now, anything else just refreeze.

That boy got any skin left on that arse?
Jk, meat’s safe. Textural quality may suffer (esp seafood) from refreezing, but still safe.
