So my BIL had a 24 hour layover in London. Guess where he decided to eat?

Well, what were his other options?

If Chili's was my only American option, I would have done the same thing most likely.

I dunno, I would have tried something local, though. First time he had ever been there and he only had 24 hours. Chilis? really?

I tend to stay close to items that I am familiar with rather than skew to an unknown for some reason. I may be wired differently though.

it's not like pub fare is that different than american food. some local fish and chips or bangers and mash is the shite.

and if you have any taste for something different, indian food in london is unbeatable.

We're definitely wired differently

We each have our own ways, but if I had a day in London, I'd definitely seek out a pub, grab myself a brew, and chow down on fish and chips or bangers and mash.

I would have gotten some great Indian food or some fish and chips with a few pints.

One of the most great places in the world to eat is the Connaught Hotel in London. Yes we are talking bucks, but the best cost money. The best chef that taught me alot of stuff in a short amount of time was an illegal worker in Britain many year ago. If he had not been killed he and not Emeril and a whole host of others would not be on your tv.

ETA There is nothing that will ever amaze you than a silent kitchen in a restaurant/hotel that is numbed by a death. Andrew Spahr was his name and I was literally the last person to work with him that night. He taught me plating presentation that amazes people when I have them as guest.

Wow, I would bang my head at that one too. I mean, how often are you in London? I probably would have tried 2 or 3 different places, and at LEAST tried fish and chips!

He must be from BR, considering his international support of chain restaurants.

Why would you want an American option?

If I had a 24 hour layover in London I would go into London and eat at Ottolenghi.
