I am the only coffee drinker in the house and only want one cup per day. Been using a Bunn MyCafe for many, many years, but I've now had problems with two of them, and do not want to take a chance on a third despite how fantastic they are. Last one just came on on its own, so I no longer trust it.

Hate the set up of a press, so that's a no go. Hate cleaning those permanent filters, so I do not want those either.

Is there a machine that uses a filter like those permanent ones, but has paper filters I can just dump when done?

Aeropress+paper filters

once you get the hang of it it's simple and much better than the huge majority of drip makers (and obviously k-cups).

Otherwise why not just a 4 cup maker?

This is not an answer to your question but have you looked into a Nespresso?

It makes fantastic coffee.
Also, the containers are 100% recyclable and Nespresso gives you a prepaid UPS pack to send them back to them.

Downside: expensive as heck. Over $1.00 per cup.

I drink 3-4 cups per day, so I only use the Nespresso for a treat on weekends. I’m cheap. Sort of. If I was a 1 cup a day guy, it’s what I’d use all the time

Oh sorry, I assumed you were looking for actual recommendations and not someone to just point you toward a shitty drip maker for 12 dollars

It was my mistake for assuming nobody would be so fricking stupid as to ask for recommendations for an obscure cheap product and then cry about the responses. Here's my highest recommendation in the "uncultured swine" category

Here is a step by step instruction

1) Google.com
2) "single serve coffee maker not k cup what about hamilton beach or something else that fits my trailer aesthetic and lifestyle"
3) profit

I've had this Ninja for about 4 years or so. 99% of the time, I use it for one tumbler sized cup every day. Rarely do I use it for anything larger (or smaller, for that matter). Paper filters will fit it just fine for you to throw away, but I still use the mesh filter that's included.

You are a high maintenance man.

Yes keurig has paper filter options now. I just use a plastic and metal reusable one, dump and a 3 second rinse and its clean enough for me.

But as said already, you could simply get a 4 cup drip coffee maker and only fill it half full of water?

Been through that. Not the worst, but was hoping for a better option.

A 3-cup chemex, but maybe that's a little too high-brow for you.

What does that mean, and what would make you say this?

Because drip coffee is the least flavorful way of brewing coffee, and most people who care about the taste use other brewing methods?
Chemex is easy: paper filter you just fold to insert & toss when you’re done. But you have to boil water separately. Get an electric kettle, and ti will make it easier to do the pour-over.

I hear ya on the French press mess. Somehow, when it gets used at my house, no one scrapes out the grounds and it sits for a while. (Plus, I don’t run the grounds down the sink if I can help it, so it’s a PITA to scrape out the compressed grounds.)

I’m a Nespresso user for my daily caffeine needs...or an iced coffee made with Cool Brew, depending on season. French press or moka pot on weekends.
