Man, all those Ozersky retrospectives are like reading a forgotten email from someone who passed away. That guy was truly amazing. Had dinner with him once and it is easily one of my favorite meals of all time.

Why not? Has it lost its luster?

Nah, just too hard to get in combined with wanting to try other places.

Almost went Saturday, but they only had a reservation for 10:30p.

Was a good lunch spot until it became crazy busy. Also, I can't get over them removing the brisket from the grape leaves.

And as long as people pay they will charge for it. James beard winner for a different restaurant, opens new one and is the best new restaurant in the country according to one source. Pretty strong right now.

Yeah I remember going there before it was cool. It's looks easy to get in during non peak hours.

Until they price themselves out of the market...and at this rate, they will.

FWIW the hype will die down. Even though Peche won a James Beard award, the hype for it has died down a lot compared to 2 years ago.

First two months didn't even need a reservation.

Alon would come by throw free pitas at you, now he is globetrotting.

I went the first week it opened and Alon waited on us while we sat at the bar.

Yep. We went the first week it opened (during Mardi Gras as I recall . . . during/after a parade) and he came by and sat with us for awhile. We had met him at Domenica a couple of years earlier and he had recommended a couple of restaurants for our Rome trip. He's a genuinely nice guy as far as I can tell.

I think you can still get in during off hours or if you want to sit at the bar.
