Sorta. But the taste doesn’t lie. Everything popped with flavor.

Kicks arse on the usual NOLA style BBQ shrimp

I have a theory that bbq shrimp is really a bastardization of Gambas al Ajillo. Whoever the businessman who went to Chicago was (in the popular legend) probably ate that and came back to New Orleans and tried to explain that dish.

They are very similar in ingredients (one uses butter or oleo originally in place of olive oil) and technique (cook in a shallow pan over moderate heat).

So the story on the name is that it’s the name of the chef’s cat.

Are you pro yougartland or creole creamery.

Mister Mao listed on RESY - checking it out next Sunday.

Is this the same restaurant group as Costera?

Obviously not the same - two different cuisines

I know the Costera guys were involved w/ dick and Jenny’s - thought they may had something to do with Mister Mao’s as well

I actually didn’t know that about Costera and Dick n Jenny’s. I thought it was Brian Burns from Peche.

We are so lucky to have so many unreal restaurants all blocks away in this neighborhood

They even have a dim sum cart that randomly rolls through restaurant and you can grab a small plate, off-menu item for a few bucks on the fly.

Emmer & Rye here in Austin does this and it’s fantastic. It makes for a really fun night.

I’ll have to check this place out next time I’m in town.
