Season Cutting Board instead of the Steak

I tried this method last night and I was really blown away by the results. No seasoning on the steak at all. I had my cutting board prepared with 4 pats of butter, chives, squeeze of half a lime, Brazilian Steakhouse seasoning and cracked black pepper. I pulled the steak and set it on top of those ingredients and covered for about 10 min. After 10 min I sliced the steak and mixed it around in all the juice and seasoning then covered again for about 5 more min. Then I topped with course salt.
I didn't take great pictures because I didn't plan on sharing these, but this was so good.
I got the idea from this video mostly

Only thing I’d recommend is maybe smoking your cutting board for about 30min, too

I don't think people realize what a hot sear does to black pepper or any other plant based seasoning. This is the way.

I can understand seasoning after you're done. Hell, I don't add the cracked black pepper until it comes off the grill.
But who the hell wants pre-sliced steak?

Your steak looks good, but I don't really understand the benefit of seasoning a cutting board vs seasoning the steak directly. Whichever is easier is what I would do.

It’s called a “board sauce” and it’s actually pretty damn good. Done it a few times for something different.
Do the Google thing, there’s a bunch of different recipes.

Did it for the last cooking challenge. I've done it regularly, and it is great.

It's great when you have e large steaks or you're serving finger foods. It allows people to take as much as they want. It also gives more surface area for the board sauce.

Who the hell wants to eat the same type steak cooked the same way every time they eat steak. You do? great! I like some variety. This method is one way to achieve that goal.

I will never not make a board sauce again. It was the best steak Ive ever had.
I still pre salted the steak though.
Did chopped thyme and rosemary, olive oil and roasted garlic. Little more salt and black pepper.

Not only is it good, but a board sauce can be a good way to salvage an overcooked steak.

They shot the messenger, but I don't care about the hateful miserable bastards on this board, the board sauce is it for me. Me and my 5 year old daughter ate the "pRe-sLiCEd" steak. Grab a slice with your hands and dip it in cowboy butter. Phenomenal.
Jax-Tiger, I didn't give you enough credit in voting for the party food challenge.

I get it. Some of those other dishes looked unbelievable. I tend to cook simple thinks that most anybody can do. and a board sauce is super easy. I think making dishes that require a lot of effort should get more votes. Not everyone has the skillset or special equipment to make all the dishes in the challenges. I make it a point to do KISS dishes.
A board sauce is not chimichurri - it can be similar, but a board sauce can have almost anything in it - mine contained neither cilantro nor parsley, the two primary ingredients to a chimichurri sauce.

I thought your dish looked amazing, but to me it didn't meet a party game day type food. It was too elevated in my opinion. Otherwise I would absolutely crush that dish you made.
It was just the mode my brain was in when judging my favorites.
