As a kid I loved Joe's Crab Shack. I think it's Landry's now. Haven't been in years.

I would crush their stuffed flounder as a kid. Miss all of those spots.

I assume the two places you are referring to are Brisby's and the Blue Crab. They are not bad and not that expensive. If you are looking for the old West End Park it ain't dere no more. And it never will be because it is behind the levee system and no one could get insurance. I like the food at Mandina's but it is not a lakefront seafood house.

My family's restaurant RIP

So, tonight we went to Mondo. Been here 48 hours and haven't seen a boiled shrimp or crab yet. This is really starting to piss me off.
Tomorrow lunch I'm headed to Blue Crab, even if I have to go by myself.

Try The Galley on Metairie Road.

Blue crab and brisbis are beyond the levee system too. They will redevelop west end when corps leaves

Brisby's and Blue Crab are not directly on the lake like the West End restaurants were. I would love to see West End redeveloped. As a kid growing up in the 60's and early 70's that used to be our regular place to go on Friday nights. Bruning's, Fitzgerald's and Papa Roselli's.

Pretty shitty that YOU'RE the visitor from out of town and everyone else is imposing their own snobbish (as you called it) choices on where you eat even though they live there and could get what they like any other day.
Whenever we had guests from out of town, it was always their choice where we would eat, or WHAT we would eat, including any requests from our kitchen at home, regardless of whether they're family or not. That remains the same even though we're in Atlanta now. That's just common courtesy and etiquette.

Pretty much this. They were all polite at first: "Where do you want to go? What would you like for dinner?"
Me: "I want to go out to the Lakefront and eat boiled shrimp and crabs."
And then what followed was all this drama about how it couldn't be done.
This side of the family is a pack of self absorbed drama queens. And that includes the men.

OK but really expensive must be Landry's. In three visits I've never had a "good" meal. My entrees have been under seasoned and/or heated to being overcooked. The salads are okay. Shame because its a nice building with great views.
Been to neither Brisbis nor Blue Crab. What are the recommended non-fried menu items?
