What's the latest on this place?

I've been invited with a small group to go, so you know the deal.

Anything food or drink wise that stands out?

their 87 different chargrilled oyster flavors are terrible.

Etouffee is good though.

Maybe he can show them how to put more than 7 oysters on a poboy.

This. Their roast beef po'boy was surprisingly great, though. One of the better ones I've had in Baton Rouge.

pure nostalgia for some BR residents...but the food is not good. Way over priced especially given the portion size.

I've only been to Phils a handful of times and it isn't in the rotation, but I remember liking it because they allow you to order the lunch portion of the fried seafood plates at dinnertime. It is exactly the amount of food I need and only like $9.95.

That's a very personal and anecdotal reason to like a place though.

The Phil's menu has some of his dishes, so maybe he is doing both.

They make an off the menu meatball quesadilla that's fantastic when available. Other than that, I pretty much only get oysters there. Everything else on the menu is pretty average
