Buy green peanuts in season.
Put in water with plenty of salt. I'm guessing here, but maybe a cup per pound of peanuts.
Boil for 1.5 hours or so or until tender. Let soak 45 minutes or so. Start tasting during soak.

Some people like to add some crab boil

Edit. That sounds like it might be too much salt. Go with a little less salt than that and let them soak longer if not salty enough

I sometimes add a small can of jalapeños and the juice.

5 lbs of Green Peanuts.....
1 Cup of Crab Boil per 5 Lbs of Peanuts....
1 Bag of Crab Boil....
Water to cover......

Boil/Simmer (covered) until peanuts are almost done....I like them slightly al dente. ~~ Time will depend of size and maturity of peanuts....
When done to your liking...Turn off the heat and let the Spicy soak begin...Taste a few along to check for saltiness....The water will generally be cool when the soak has worked its magic. ~~~

Looking at other recipes I've used it seems 1 cup of salt per 5 pounds is in the ball park. Methodology remains the same.

The advice He gave is good. It is hard to over salt the water. Bring the pot to a boil, cut to a simmer, and plan on it taking between 1.5 to 2 hours for them to get tender. Then soak until they are salty enough for you.

Where are you seeing them? I usually expect to find them in early August.
I'm headed to north Mississippi later this month and bringing my ice chest in case I stumble on any.

I can never find any raw green peanuts in Houston. I've tried the ones in prepackaged bags at the grocery, but those don't soften and take forever.

I do 50/50 salt and Tony's and add a little crab boil to taste. I don't measure the salt/Tony's, just pour it in to taste.

I'm in Charleston and I've seen them the past couple of weeks, I've boiled a couple pounds already.

Literally bought some green peanuts today at the farmer's market.

You can only find them for a few weeks/months during harvest. They get moldy pretty quick, so there's a short window of availability.

Supposedly you can boil with raw peanuts, which are available year round (but I've never done it).

Only difference is how long you have to boil them (~2 hrs vs 12+).

ETA: The salt level trick I use is to taste the water until it's soup-level salty. But hard to mess up. If too salty, add water, not salty enough just add more. Remember though, if adding midway through cooking, it will take some time for the salt to soak into the actual peanuts (vs salt level of water).

Pro-tip: you can freeze boiled peanuts and just reheat them whenever you want.

I tried boiling the raw ones once and I didn't think the taste was as good a green.
The green ines freeze well. I'm usually good all through football season that way

I have never tried boiling raw, I just boil a ton during green season and then freeze them.

But I have been told that it's doable with raw.

I boil 4 1/2 lbs in my pressure cooker. 1/2 cup salt, some liq crab boil, with a few corriander and juniper seeds. Cover peanuts with water. Boil under pressure for 35 min then let cool. Perfect for me.

Season here in SE LA is Sept & Oct.

Back in college some friends and myself thought we could boil some plain bagged peanuts just like crawfish and it would be awesome. Boy were we disappointed

Good seasoning advice here. I like mine salty and spicy. I no longer boil peanuts though. Throw them in crock pot on high and check periodically over the weekend until the texture is exactly the way I like. Fool proof as long as you're not away for a whole day. Set it on low at night if they are close.
