I welcome added business to the area. I think it will become a food destination for everyone. You can get a great meal on the cheaper side (Zippys, Jimmy Johns) or a great meal on the upscale side(Digulio's, Acme).
People will come from the bulldog, especially on nights their kitchen closes early.
Plus once the perkins overpass opens again that area will be booming.

I just dont see the draw. That area is saturated with food and beverage places. Georges takes care of the hole in the wall dive place. Rama has your thai food. Duvics, zee zees, and ivars have every angle of the bar scene taken care of. Zippys has the mexican food. Couple that with the new places and I think you are setting yourself up to fail especially if you have shitty overpriced food, poor service, and limited alcohol selection. I would say I give it a year, but they will dump money into it and probably get a few suckers. 2 years tops.

Zippys isn't Mexican, but I know what you mean.. Jack Warner seemed like kind of a jerk, but I've only had limited interaction with him. Schlittz n Giggles seemed like a good idea at first, but I soon realized that I was paying too much for to wait 15 minutes for a pitcher of beer and to generally be treated like dirt by the kitchen staff. Once I asked if I could get a certain pizza but without the sausage on it and the guy was like "NO!". After the hurricane, they had a limited menu, the place wasnt very busy at the time and I offered to pay extra to simply not put sausage on it (for my vegetarian friend) and he still said No. Made me feel like I was in some highly rigid thinking place like Wal-Mart, or something. I was very hungry, so I ordered the pizza, watched the same guy put sausage on it (that I asked him not to) and later let her pick the sausage off. I havent gone back since then but they seem to be doing good business.

Which one are you? Brandon or Jack?

I like their greasy thin crust large pieces of foldable pizza. I dislike the other Landry places, but can live with S&G a block from my house. The overpass is a different crowd. The families in the surrounding streets dine out a lot and appreciate walking to their restaurants. We have it made in the Dales. The more choices the better.

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't S & G's get their pizza frozen from Deangleo's ?
Sure, I'd be happy to correct you.
As far as their pizza goes, I've had better and I've had worse but it does the job when you're downtown and you're drunk. I usually blot the pizza w/ some napkins b/c it tends to be VERY greasy. But there paninis are really good last time I went.
Opening up a second location is probably not the best idea for S&G. They haven't made enough noise in their downtown location really. If I'm in that area of Perkins I'd pick Chelsea's or Georges any day over Schlitz, but that's just me
