I have always made my sazeracs with just Peychaud bitters. Do yall use a dash of Angostura too?

TIA

If I am doing a full old fashioned yes. Angostura and Luxardo Cherry. Bit of orange bitters if I don't have and orange/satsuma.

No problem with Peychaud bitters. I don't think it is traditional to use angostura in sazeracs.

For Sazeracs, I go Peychaud & Angostura.

For OF’s, it’s Angostura & Regan’s orange bitters here

Make an Old Fashioned any way you like but a real Sazerac only uses Peychaud's.

I only use Peychauds in my Sazeracs. Similar to FT, I'll add a dash or two of Regan's orange bitters if I turn around to find my fruit basket empty.

Sazerac marcellos

Pour 1/2 oz of pernod absinthe and some club soda and ice in a glass and let it sit.

The drink( separate glass)
3/4 oz simple syrup
2 1/2 oz rye whiskey
6-7 dashes Angostura and 6-7 dashes of peycheauds
Stir.

Pour out contents of first glass and then add the second cup into the first one and top with a lemon twist

That’s usually how I do mine but I have seen it with and without the Angostura.

The only correct answer is however it tastes best to you.

So I had a Sazerac at Commanders and it was disgusting. Was it me or commanders? I mean, maybe Im not sophisticated enough for a Sazerac

Some people put sprite in their mint juleps. There are wrong answers

Incorrect. If a person is making a drink for themselves to drink and they think it tastes best that way, then it's correct. Everyone's tastes are different. In Mexico, tequila is drank with Coke like it's Jack Daniels. People get too bent out of shape over correct. I think whiskey is incorrect with mint. After that, who cares if they put sprite in it. It's already gross.

By that logic bourbon in the US is drank with coke. The mainstream in any Country is not a good indication of quality.

My point, that I didn't elaborate on, is that in the United States, tequila and coke sounds completely abnormal. Sounds like a drink someone would get judged for ordering in Baton Rouge, yet is the most normal way to drink tequila in the country it's made. I was just saying that just because something sounds weird, doesn't make it weird.

Original Sazerac

1 sugar cube
3 dashes of Peychaud’s Bitters
1 1/2 ounces of Sazerac Rye Whiskey
1/4 ounce Herbsaint ( Absinthe)
Lemon peel, for garnish

Most establishments these days use simple syrup - and more of it - rather than a sugar cube and more bitters.
