You don't want to break the bank on Tequila if all you're going to do with it is make Margaritas. But you also don't want junk like Jose Cuervo, which is almost 50% filler,

Sauza Hornitos Plata makes a damn fine Margarita

Made from 100% Blue Agave

I love the Hornitos Reposada, but I'd never tried the Plata before. And since Plata/Silver seems to be the preferred choice for Margaritas, I decided to give it a try. I'm very pleased with the results. Can't imagine there's a better Tequila for the price for making Margaritas.

Same here. I make margs with it. The anejo is good on the rocks.

Altos Reposado is very good as well. I've used it in margaritas a bunch. But I could see myself sipping it as well.

You can't beat the Original Maragarita recipe IMO.

2 oz of a good quality Blanco Tequila
1 oz Cointreau
1 oz Fresh Lime Juice

Step 1
Combine all ingredients in a shaker and add ice.

Step 2
Shake and strain into a rocks glass. Salt on the rim is optional

Step 3
Garnish with a lime wheel.

However, if you want something simpler and faster, the Kirkland Signature Premium Margarita Mix from Costco makes an excellent Margarita. It's made with fresh lime juice and Cane sugar. And it has no preservatives. Just mix the tequila with the margarita mix and shake it in a shaker filled with ice. Depending on how strong you like your drinks you can do a 3 to 1 or a 4 to 1 ratio. I keep this stuff in stock at my house when the weather is hot
