If you have to eat on the Riverwalk, Bella's was pretty righteous Italian. There for a Saturday, the Mirador on St Mary has some one-of-a-kind Mexican soups for Saturday lunch only. My wife loved the breakfast at the La Panaderia on E Houston (short walk from the Contessa where we stayed). If you want to get out of the Mexican genre for a moment, do breakfast at the First Watch on the NW Loop-hard to find, but its a storefront in the mall there. And last, if you're driving in, there's Joel's BBQ in Flatonia about 90 minutes east of SA- worth the stop!

For breakfast, try the Magnolia Pancake Haus. Best breakfast in town. Lunch I would suggest Freetail for some beer and pizza. For a nice dinner, go to the JW Marriott and eat at the Cibolo Moon. Try the burnt ends.

We took a family vacation there last summer and stayed on the RW. We had weekend brunch at Las Canarias, it was out of this world. It is in the La Mansion del Rio hotel, and it opens out onto the Riverwalk.

If your kids are sweets lovers, take them to get the giant cinnamon roll at Lulu's Bakery. They'll be tickled. Queso-covered chicken fried steak, and great BLT

Go to John T. Floore's Country Store in Helotes. Try and go when they have live music. Cool place and great tamales.
Have a drink at the Menger Hotel Bar.

If you haven’t made your trip yet, I highly suggest Acenar on E. Houston street for fantastic Mexican food.

Floore’s is where Willie Nelson cut his teeth and a cool joint. Go to Chris Madrid’s for a big arse burger. My wife and I loved Paloma Blanca in Alamo Heights for Mexican. Avoid Bill Miller’s except for the huge sweet tea. The Grist Mill in Greune is cool and a short drive.

Can’t believe I missed this thread. Are there any recs for the NW side of San Antonio (Hardberger Park) area?
