Sal ('s saloon in Monroe)

My first job was for Sal, It came quickly after I realized I was not as good at baseball as I thought I was. Sal was in my oldest brother's wedding and my middle brother worked there for some time in college also. My middle brother told me last night that Sal was on a vent due to Covid-19. If any one has a few seconds for a prayer for Sal everyone that's been in Sal's in Monroe , for the beer bust on Thursday or Flaming Dr. Peppers, would appreciate it.

I heard this morning Sal was in the hospital. Hopefully he gets turned around.

Damn, hate to hear this. I saw Sal in Waterfront a few weeks ago and talked to him for a while. He was fit as a fiddle then. Same as he looked 20 years ago. He’s a NELA legend. Hope he pulls through.

I don't think I'm welcome in Sal's anymore.
Backroom Booray is a bitch.

So sad to hear about Sal. I spent a lot of time there from 1978-1981. Possibly was served a drink or 2 by you or your brother. How old would Sal be now? Maybe 70 or so?

If I had to bet, I'd say 71 or 2. You probably missed us behind the bar. I was there in 87 ( I think) and my brother probably 75ish- they are quite a bit older than I am.

That’s a cool story Cad. Not sure of the connection between Sol’s Pipe n Steel and Sal’s saloon though

He is in ICU. Not on a vent and his test has not come back yet.

That's good news, if true.

Damn. Must have happened quick. Seems like two days ago I saw him driving his truck around.
ETA: guess it was longer than that.

Sal’s improving. A good friend of his told me he was arguing with his doctor today about coming home.
