Japs can't make decent liquor. Sake, beer, it all sucks.

Absurd.

While their beer leaves something to be desired, their sake is excellent and their wine and whiskey production is threatening to overtake some long time regions that have been resting on their laurels.

you’re ever in Asheville check out Ben’s tune up—it is a sake brewery with tons of options

Been 5x, never ordered sake. Food is good.

I agree, and I'd even say their mass produced beer is better than ours.

I'm not a big fan of the taste of Sake (To be honest, I don't know the difference between top-shlef and bottom-shelf sake), but I enjoy drinking it at Japanese restaurants with friends as a convivial thing, but I would never drink it at home.

I’d easily drink Kirin, Sapporo or asahi over the likes of bud, miller, coors, etc

If you can enjoy the cheap stuff they serve at a Japanese restaurant, you really should check out the higher end stuff. Junmai Daiginjo is amazing if you can find it, but even the Jummai and Junmai Ginjos are worlds better than the stuff you find in the grocery store.

What? Do you work in a sake store?

I've literally never heard anyone refer to Pete's Sake.

I don't hear people speak of sake weekly/monthly, much less some name brand variant on a daily basis
