Good choices, next time you're in town you should check out Johnson's Boucaniere for lunch. It's one of the places that I really miss after moving away.

One of my top 5 spots in the city. The other 4 are social, ruffinos, Pamplona, and Charlie g's.

the French Press has a solid breakfast but you need to get there early since they don't take reservations

I used to love this place, but quit eating there several years ago because I would get there at 12 noon and order a soup or a salad, and not get served until 12:50. How hard is it to ladle me some soup in under 50 minutes?

I like the place, but I'm with you...there are some quirky things about it. I used to go there before events at the Cajundome. I see on Google that they've changed their hours, but at the time they opened for drinks at 5:30 but the kitchen wasn't available until 6. By the time they took my order I had to wolf down my food at 6:30 in order to be at the 'Dome. It fell out of my rotation because of this.

I haven't been there in a while, but there's a couple of people in the kitchen that I used to work with and respect sincerely, so I'm sure it's a good experience.

I stumbled upon the place while having some pregame drinks at Bisbanos Cellar Door. I was craving an Olde Tyme poboy and on my short walk there I passed SSI and saw a "Farm to Table" sign, so I bit. My first impression was awesomeness.

I wonder the same thing because I've had great food at all four of these establishments. The downvoters must love Olive Garden.

I totally understand your post, and agree.

I'm not penalizing the quirkiness, because that's what can give a restaurant it's character.

Some days my schedule is tight and I need to be done with lunch by 1 pm, so I go in there and order the most uncomplicated food item there is ---soup----plus their soups were really good---and I'm sweating it out at 12:50 still waiting for my entree. This happened a few too many times.

That was my only issue with SSI. The food is good.
