the amount of food he's talking about ordering for a couple is way overkill

Hol up - 2 steaks and 2-3 shareable sides for a couple is way overkill to you? Y'all split one side or something?

I've the portions you eat

Regardless, they have fixed price offerings where you can get a filet and shrimp for example with a side and dessert for $50ish a person. It takes a pretty big order to get around $250 unless you're boozing.

Ah, I forgot they have that in New Orleans. Baton Rouge doesn't do this. Only Power Lunch during lunch.

As for the OP - I imagine (and would hope) the privately owned locations are fine for the most part. Sure you're subject to some franchise changes, but I don't think it is as in-depth as their locations becoming Olive Garden.

Chris Bachman (BR) in particular has a week+ out for reservations/people trying to get tables, and I would hope any new company taking over the corporate side could see those numbers and leave them be. Or like someone else said, TJ Moran got the BR location a lot of protections from this long ago.

The current location is the first one in BR. The first franchise location, by TJ, was in Prairieville on Airline Highway, almost directly across from the now shuttered TJ Ribs Prairieville location. The building is vacant now, but used to house Sotherm Kumfort Gentlemen’s Club. A fine establishment employing well endowed ladies with black teeth.

TJ moved the operation to its current location on Constitution Avenue, formerly the Cockpit Club, in the early 80s, if my memory serves me. He was the largest franchisee at some point in the late 90s early 2000s. He sold all of the locations back to the corporate entity but kept the BR location and sold it to the current owner before he died. All of this occurred after the Stanford Ponzi scheme. Some say that it was reason for the sale. In theory, he made it more than just a steak and potato joint.

He was a hard arse for customer service and big strong drinks.

Is Paul Fleming’s (PF Chang & flemings) brother still the GM of lafayette location?

I think Pat retired Pat once told me he was offered the same type of franchise opportunity Paul was offered and turned it down.

Wont matter much. Lots of the restaurants are franchised. The changes made will not be noticeable by 95% of guests. There was an old story about Tilman trying to buy it from Mrs Fertel and she didn't hear him say the right number. She said she would know it when she heard it. Not sure she would go along with the Red Lobster/ Olive Garden folks but who knows. Ruth's Chris is a lot closer operationally to one of those 2 now .

The Baton Rouge and New Orleans locations will not be affected, to the extent any are. They are independently owned.

Hopefully they won’t change. Time will tell. Went this week in BR and service and food was outstanding. The prices are right in line (within a dollar or two up or down) with other restaurants for the same type food.

Ruth's is hit or miss. Some locations are pretty good, others are on cruise control. I assume its worse since Covid because everything is worse.

Much prefer Capital Grill in terms of chains.
