Have to take my boy to a cross country meet on Saturday. Any decent place for lunch after he's done?

Flying Burger or Brister’s Smokehouse.

What kind of food? Bristers is BBQ sandwiches type place, Roma is pretty good Italian, Dawg House for sports bar type food, or Johnny's or the new Rotolos for pizza.

Is Griff's still around? I remember it being good many years ago for what it was, a good old fashioned greasy burger.

My kids run. The Natchitoches state meet is really a great race. They are 2A.

My kid is only in the first grade. Nothing like driving 2 hours for a 10-minute race. He seems to like it so it's all good.

According to a calendar I found on RAW's Facebook page it looks like they will be closed this Saturday for some reason.

You could go there, but it's not a great place for a 6 or 7 year old. It's sushi or fried rice, and a darker type room. It's not upscale or anything, just not something I would see a kid wanting to go to after running cross-country.

Ponchatoula's downtown is your answer. Broad menu that will please adult and child alike.

I think we will probably be going to Griff's. The kid is always up for a good hamburger. Hope it's as good as I remember it being.

Sundown has a really good turkey melt. I would do that or Johnnys pizza

Sundown is good.

Champs downtown is also good as they have a decent tap selection.
The Dawg House is a cool place.
Ponch’s is fine.
Brister’s is good.

I’ve always wanted to try the Utilty brewery, but it seems to always be too late or a Sunday.

ETA. Last time I was there, Rotolos had Jucifer on tap.

I have to work in Ruston a good bit:

I had Griff’s Recently - it is still good

Brister’s good - I like their meats and sandwiches - not a fan of their sides

Roma is good

Sundowner is good - I loved their chili dogs but I don’t believe they sell em anymore

Ponchatoula- Not a bad choice for you and your kid - nothing special but a wide variety

RAW - kid won’t like it even though it is legit

Log Cabin - nothing special

Scott’s - a little bit of a drive but it is good fried food

Portico - meh

Dawg House - pub grub but it is always good

Beau Vines was very good last time there a couple of years ago

Nana’s - soul food

Of course there are plenty of chains off I20 including Chick-Fil-A
