Roegels BBQ Houston

This is one of my favorite spots in Houston and I know people on here like it as well but today it wasn't very good. They have increased the price but seem to have decreased the quality of their product. I hadn't been in several months, so me and a couple guys from the office decided to go as we all usually really enjoy it. Everyone was in agreement that it wasn't near as good as it use to be. Has anyone else noticed this?
I am hoping they were just having an off day because I normally love their food. It wasn't bad but definitely wasn't the same bbq that has given them such a high name in the city.

Went once a couple years ago, wasn't impressed, haven't felt the need to go back.

it's decent bbq, doesn't stack up that well against the heavy hitters

I've eaten at Roegels 5-6X. And it's been great to among the best BBQ I've eaten.
There's a reason Vaughan rated it 4.5/5 in his TX top-50.
FTR, the first time I ate from the Pit Room, I ended up throwing some away. It was that bad. But it's been great every time since. I guess even the best BBQ joints have their off days.

Are you going to HOUBBQ festival?
Have you tried Harlem Road BBQ? Love what Ara's doing over there and he deserves all the pub he's been getting lately.

I haven't tried Harlem Road.
Want to try Reveille, especially now that they have Wade from Feges as one of the pitmasters.
ALso have never tried Daddy Duncans. He's always set up deep in Katy.

Have an of y’all tried Brett’s BBQ in Richmond? It’s not far from Harlem.
ETA: Nevermind. Brett’s is pretty far North of Harlem. For some reason, I was thinking it was closer to Pecan Grove.
Either way, curious if any of y’all have tried it.

Personally, I’d add Pit Room to that list. My favorite ribs I’ve had in Houston.
Think I might have to get some Feges brisket during lunch. It’s good, and bad, working in that complex and smelling that food every morning.

Brett’s BBQ in Katy is damn good. They’re closed on Monday and Tuesday and open until they sell out on other days. They run out of some of there meats pretty quickly on the weekends. His place is so small, a lot of people call in orders to go. Also, his potato salad, mac n cheese, and cole slaw are very good.
As for Daddy Duncan’s, he has quite a few collaborations with places in Katy using his BBQ in some of their offerings. I’ve had his sandwich offered at Proud Pie in Katy and both his Brisket Ramen and Brisket Ramen sandwich from Slurp Ramen Factory in Richmond. All have been excellent. Looking forward to visiting his truck now that he seems ready to roll with it.

Tried Brett's the first week he was open. Pretty average but figured he was ironing out the wrinkles. Plan to stop by again soon. Glad he's getting good reviews.
Also, keep trying to catch up with Daddy Duncan's. He's getting some rave reviews.

I am well aware of the Texas Monthly list. Roegels included in it. Texas Monthly has Roegels as the highest rated in Houston proper.
Which is why I was wondering who were the Houston heavy hitters if Roegels isn't considered one?
